View Full Version : Okay, so I just got threatened

sg1985

I posted my article on "psychic detective" Jackie Barrett and just last night the comment war has actually ventured into threats.

I was expecting some rabid Jackie supports that are a few fries short of a Happy Meal to leave me some hate, but this is ridiculous. For someone who claims to be involved with the law Jackie & Co. don't seem to have any concept of it.

The article is here: Jackie Barrett: Psychic Detective? (http://incoldblogger.blogspot.com/2009/02/jackie-barrett-psychic-detective.html)

Edited to fix the link.

Please note that I'm not suggesting that you get involved in the flame war. I believe in ignoring the school yard bullies so they will go away and find someone else to harass.

I'm really longing for the peace wooers that want to talk about chi and meditate with crystals.

By the hooves of the mighty IPU (bless Her name) there sure are a lot of crazy people in the World, Well at least one anyway . . .. :boggled:

I once dug out a quote from the director of a missing person organization who said that out of the thousands of cases she had been involved with no psychic had every helped in a single one. I sent the quote to Randi and he used in one of his newsletters. Thereby knocking another 30 seconds off my allotted 15 minutes of fame,

Haven't found where on your site the threats are, but if you receive serious threats, contact the police. Gets the creeps punished, and acts as a deterrent for the rest of them.

Sure, it's the Internet, but threats of a serious nature you should never, ever put up with.

The one who posted his/her/its alleged phone number seems like a complete wack-job.
Does make you wonder just what exactly these people do all day that they so violently hate critical thinking journalists...then again, I suppose they could be governors of large, oil-rich states with small populations...

My favorite is the person who criticizes the writing style because the writer quoted pod casts verbatim. In theses pod casts Jackie sounds like a high school girl with lots of 'ums' and 'likes' thrown in with very little actual information. The criticism is that by accurately quoting her the writer makes Jakie look bad. This is apparently bad reporting....

A reporter is apparently meant to change quotes when they make the quotee look bad.

I think I am going to offer to sell some of these people Brazilian power crystals.

Hello…

We have been on the receiving end of all kinds of threats because of our efforts to expose the truth. We have even been served legal papers to stop discussing cases because the items are “copy rited” (their words not ours) and any mention of the case would decrease the ability that they had to make profits from its publication.

We talked to James Randi about the problem and he told us that if we were getting legal threats we must have done something right…

This is just the way that people who are scamming the public seem to attack. The threats are usually without any backing and never pan out to be anything more than a scare tactic. If there are physical threats or any type of computer attacks that are documentable this is a great time to start filing complaints with the Police, just so you have the upper hand.

It is great to see someone else that is willing to help expose these frauds, keep up the good work.

In case you were wondering you can check out the case we have had the threats about at
Denveretcommission dot com

Thanks,
Bryan

This (http://www.azle-news.com/news/get-news.asp?id=9404&catid=5&cpg=get-news.asp) might explain his literacy skills:

William Cook, who stood in line for five hours, says he only owns two books: Norris’ autographed book and the Bible. I didn’t dare ask him which one he rated higher. He’s saving the Norris book for his Marine son, Sgt. Kevin Norris (no relation to Chuck) who is returning home to Azle after three stints in Iraq. He said his son’s goal was to be as tough as his idol who is, by the way, an honorary member of the Marine Corps.

sg1985:

You did an excellent job researching and writing about "Psychic" Medium Spiritual Advisor, Jackie Barrett. You provided an accurate accounting of the relationship between "psychic" detectives and law enforcement in general, and Ms. Barrett, specifically. You used a neutral tone, did not make fun of Ms. Barrett, or make false allegations. You stated facts.

So how good was your blog?

I read all the comments on your blog, and none of them corrected any erroneous information. Some posts were made, stating to the effect, that you were unfairly attacking Ms. Barrett- but not one person provided evidence of her role with law enforcement. For example, no one gave the name of an FBI agent and posted a copy of say, a letter of confirmation proving that the FBI requested Ms. Barrett's "psychic" services, and that she provided the clue(s) that solved a case. Only misguided individuals made posts stating garbage to the effect that "she can't talk about her work because it's secret," or, "if she only helps one person...blah, blah, blah."

Don't let negative, feeble-minded comments get you down. Keep up your good work exposing the fallacies and falsehoods of self-promoting/media supported "psychics." Please continue to help educate and inform.

Funny how they keep thinking you can't criticize her because you've never met her.

Yeah, and they've never met me but they're free to criticize away.

Also, I've never met her and therefore have no right to comment on her, but when I asked to interview her and Crowley they admit that they both ignored me. Because I'm not important enough to warrant an interview, yet I'm important enough to keep a 120+ comment flame war going and hack into my online accounts.

Btw, someone tried to hack into my hotmail account, then I got an e-mail from Script Frenzy that had an attachment. Script Frenzy doesn't send e-mails with attachments. Good thing I have McAfee and a computer geek friend. For some reason he thought that my opening line -- "Well, you see, I pissed off this psychic detective" -- was hysterical.

Ah, feel the love.

Jesus Christ, this just gets more ridiculous.

A commenter claimed that this was a text message exchange that he had with Jackie.

Jackie: "Actually we all know who did this. I just think its funny. Lol. But it will be delt with through legal. Have a wonderful day."

Me: "Lol what can you sue star for" All she did was qutoe you which is perfectly legal."

Jackie: "Don't worry you'll see. So I have a party to get back to ! My lawyer may contact you."

Me: "LOL you're halarious, ****in joke, stop harrasing me and lose my number you immature person, deal with your own lies that you made and don't look to point any fingers, don't text me anymore"

Jackie: "Oh you told me of the blog (before it went up) we found out its in legal."

They had to consult a lawyer to ask if it was legal to quote someone?

Okay, now I'm just confused.

i really can't believe how crazy this blog is . I am very close to Jackie she would never be part of this.

All evidence to the contrary?

The person who said (they txt back/forth) That only shows you must have been close to her 2 have her cell # , that sounds like a friendship gone sour or one tried to set her up,

I have no idea who that guy is. He contacted me.

in that case i'm sure she must know about you , maybe when she reads this insane blog she will tell us just why you did such a thing.

Yes, please tell me why I did such a thing because I have no idea.

All of this is making me wonder the true reasons .
I read very well between the lines ,someone is behind this . If this is the person we think , i'm shocked you would hurt Jackie after everything she did for your family .

I've never met Jackie and the only thing she did for my family was freak out my mom and piss off my dad.

I hope this isn't the case . She hasn't seen this yet . Thank goodness for that , i think we are more shocked at your comments ,

What comments are shocking? How are these comments shocking?

what a shame. She helpped your family like her own even went to your dads bed side after his heart attack . It's a sad day , a very sad day . this should be showen to him . VERY HURT.

My dad never had a heart attack. Also, I showed my dad a lot of this and he did a lot of head shaking.

Jackie has told me she looked upon your mom/dad as her own and spoke so highly of your mother as a kind and gental woman .

My mom IS a kind and gentle woman, but she's never met Jackie.

Why would you ever go an do such a thing that can't be taken back ,

It seemed like a good idea at the time.

you sat at her table for thankgiving dinner .

No I didn't.

What a way to get noticed by hurting such a beautiful soul .

Right, so the reason that I'm did all of this writing is to try and get famous off of the back of a psychic that no one's ever heard before.

I could say alot more but that is up to Jackie . She had so much faith in you.

Good to know!

Again Jackie hasn't seen this blog YET,

Again, all evidence to the contrary.

Ugh!!!! I should really stop checking the comments, but I need to document any comments that are threatening.

But.....but.....she's such a nice person!

I suppose this whole episode exposes how deeply some people want to believe in this crap. But wanting something to be true does not make it so. Bigfoot being real would be very cool, and I would like if it were true, but that doesn't make Bigfoot real.

People need to start separating their emotional needs from rational inquiry.

But.....but.....she's such a nice person!

And she has such a beautiful soul!

I think the phase "beautiful soul" is so utterly woo. I've heard it a few times, and every time I do, I just want to grab a crystal and start cleansing my aura.

I suppose this whole episode exposes how deeply some people want to believe in this crap. But wanting something to be true does not make it so. Bigfoot being real would be very cool, and I would like if it were true, but that doesn't make Bigfoot real.

I was having the same conversation about dragons. I love dragons. I have two dragon tattoos and my favorite character from Sleeping Beauty (Disney version) was Maleficent. I was 5 and my favorite character was the villain. That should have tipped someone off right there.

Anyway, I would be so stoked if dragons were real. I'd hope that I could keep one as a pet provided that it didn't eat my cat. But they're not and I can't. So I can sit back and admire them, but I'm not going to delude myself into thinking that they're real simply because I want them to be.
