Pamphlets distributed during the symposium, which brought together some of the world's most notorious 1906 Earthquake Deniers, raised numerous questions about the so-called "myth" of the 296-mile-long rupture in the San Andreas Fault felt from Oregon to Los Angeles.

"If an earthquake of that size really did strike downtown San Francisco, then where is all the rubble?" read one pamphlet, entitled "After$hock$: Truth, Lies, And The Business Of Earthquakes," obtained by reporters. "Where are these alleged 3,000 dead? And why does the mayor refuse to answer questions about the fires that mysteriously started moments after the supposed 'earthquake' occurred? Ask yourself: Who is he protecting?"

gotta love The Onion

These geologists and their fancy-looking, detailed seismic readouts simply aren't telling us the whole story.

I like the last two sentences. They sound like something a truther would say.

"If a giant earthquake did actually occur, why would anyone in their right mind rebuild a city knowing full well that another earthquake could easily come along and destroy it again?"

"Think about it," Meeder added.

The only thing the article was missing was "We're just asking questions" and "the government's story."

They sound sound like something someone waking up to war profiteering might say:

"If Gaza was destroyed why would anyone in their right mind rebuild the city knowing full well that another bunch of hooligans could easily come along and destroy it again?

"Think about it," Obama added."

Hah! A friend just told me of an encounter her mother had when she (temporarily) emigrated to the USA just after the war. My friend's mother was enlisted, and spent the war as a driver-mechanic in supply convoys all over England. She saw a lot of action, including having to drive through bombing raids.

In America she overheard a man insisting that the reports of the bomb damage suffered in Britain were hugely exaggerated, and that very few bombs had fallen on the country at all. This was in 1947.

My friend's mother allegedly had to be physically dragged off him. (My friend told me the story while we were walking round the ruins of Coventry cathedral.)
