Something. Anything.
Martial law? FEMA camps? Revoking free speech? One world government? Mass killings? Alien invasion? 3D Realms finally releases "Duke Nukem Forever"?
For years and years and years and years, Truthers have promised these things and more. And yet, here I sit, in a country of such freedom and opportunity that people from south of the border regularly risk their very lives to smuggle themselves in. Watching doomsday prophecy after doomsday prophecy fail spectacularly. Waiting for one to actually come true.
How much longer am I going to continue waiting?

But, there's irrefutable evidence!!! You're just too blinded by mainstream game companies to see it!

The reason it's taken too long is because ol' Duke got himself captured and detained by the FARC:

How then do you explain CTists going on for years before that about these supposed camps? There's been talk of these camps since the 1960s counterculture; the only new twist has been to add FEMA and change the professional CTists who assert that they exist.

I love how the CT logic goes
Step 1: Come up with the scariest, doom and gloom prediction you can think of. Claim one of the Groups Who Rule The World ("The elite", "the bankers", "the freemasons", "the bilderbergs", etc.) will be carrying out this maniacal devious prediction.
Step 2: Set a date - preferably years into the future. Claim the scenario of utter doooooooooooooooooooooooooooooom will happen then. Write books and ask for donations, cash in on other peoples stupidity.
Step 3: When date comes and goes, claim that your publication of the event stopped the Group Who is Ruling the World from carrying it out.
Rinse, repeat.

I love how the nutters randomly proclaim that anytime a statistic isn't gloomy enough for them, that its fake. The unemployment number reported is actually larger than it REALLY is because there is a stigma associated with claiming that you aren't looking for work and are instead sitting back and enjoying your big benefits check.
So the percentage of people unemployed and looking for a job is probably more like 6 or 7%, not because utter doom has come upon us and no one can find a job but because people are on vacation with their unemployment check.

Very true. If I had paid into that plan I would look at it in the sense that I didn't need to find work real fast. I have known many people that would get laid off or fired that would do this...to them it is a free vacation; and it isn't necessarily bad if they paid into it. Personally I wouldn't want to put myself into the position of having to accept any job after the benefits ran out....but that is just me.

Precisely - I even read an article somewhere the other day that was entitled "Unemployed and loving it" that talked about this. Many people look at unemployment as a free vacation because they can get 6 months to a year of free money and not do much for it. What a shocking lack of knowledge about basic economics. This is the state of the school system today, it seems.
Remember - just because you want doom and gloom doesn't mean its going to happen, although this sort of "run for the hills were all going to die" has succeeded in convincing many dumb people that the great depression II is nigh:
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/business/general_business/53_say_it_s_likely_the_u_s_will_enter_a_depression _similar_to_1930_s
Of course what this proves is that a recovery is closer than ever, since when the majority of the population is dumb enough to think a depression is likely its an excellent indicator that things are turning around. And the banks have never been better! Really! They now have my wife and one of my daughters working as tellers, which is a vast improvement over the grouchy, ugly people that were working there before. Really!
And 2% of the population is 10,000? Really? Wow! We don't have as many people living here as reported. They all must already be in the FEMA camps, huh? Or "disappeared", maybe? Hold me, I'm scared!
And what's a "poni" scheme? Is that where I finally get that pony I was promised? Will there be pie, too? I sure hope so. They keep promising me ponies and pies, and I never get them. It's a constant mantra of "BUY OUR BULK FOOD SHIPMENTS TODAY SO YOUR FAMILY ISN'T RAPED BY FEMA SOLDIERS TOMORROW" and "Order now while we still accept fiat paper money for gold!"
I kind of wonder how many people are enduring supporters of things like this, I'm sure for Alex Jones' entire career he was shouting "It's here folks, something bad is here... they're openly announcing world government." After a while, shouldn't he just discredit himself?

I've never really liked Kool-Aid myself. I prefer Diet Mt. Dew.
Coconut cream, that's my favorite pie. It's good. I'll let you have a piece, but only if you don't tell Madoff! He's always getting in my stuff, and it's pretty annoying.
And an inflationary depression? Is that like Naval Intelligence? Jumbo Shrimp? I don't understand. Things are going to get smaller because they got bigger? Yay! It's magic! I get it now! A clown is coming, too, to bring me my pie and pony! Oh, this is just too exciting!
This is just the bestest day of today! Yay!
I take it you're gonna be pretty shocked when you're living in your obamaville?

malcolm, is that the same malcolm that was here many months ago?
Thought he got banned?
Perhaps you should learn some math.
10,000 is 2% of 500,000. Are there really only 500,000 persons in the US work force?
Well Canadian Banks all posted profits in each quarter over the last year. Guess I'm safe.
I suppose there will be some good bargins to be had when the USA businesses are failing. Perhaps we Canadians can get loans from out banks and buy up a few businesses and keep some of you hired on.
So its March '09 and you claim that all will be a wasteland by March '11.
Shall we mark our calenders so that you can post an 'I told you so'? Cuts both ways of course. You could also agree to post here an "I was wrong" should that be the case.
That's a 'ponzi' scheme, and I believe that you wanted a coma between "over" and "all".
As far as Zimbabwe comparisons go though, its a good thing that you-all voted G.W. Bush out of the Presidency then.
Oops, correct me if I am wrong but you cannot be POTUS for more that two terms, and thus GWB was not running for POTUS. Furthermore the political entity known as the Republican Party also failed to have their candidate elected as POTUS. Ooh, the comparison to Zimbabwe is sooo apt.
Canada will be hurt by the american collapse too bro!
Ooh, the comparison to Zimbabwe is sooo apt.
Ok, maybe you would prefer weimar republic.
When I am right (and I know I will be), I'll make sure to do a lot of gloating.
United states will suffer a major inflationary depression.
It's coming.
All the US has is a printing press. Prices have to go up dudes.
Friend of mine put simply. When you throw a ball in zimbabwe doesn't it come back down? So why would anything different happen if it's in the United states? Is the United States god?

America is bankrupt. They have these phony T-bills that nobody is gonna buy so they're just gonna have to crank the printing presses, which will bring weimar style inflation.
Bankruptcy would occur when the liabilities of the United States government exceeded assets in such a way that debts could no longer be paid. There is no evidence or reason to believe bankruptcy is anywhere close nor would it be in our lifetime. Indeed, the figurative balance sheet is quite impressive.

Have you even read the Bible?
Genesis: 7:13-23 God kills EVERYONE bar those on the ark.
Genesis 19:24 God kills everyone in Sodom and Gomorrah
Genesis 19:26 God kills Lot's Wife by turning her into a pillar of salt
Genesis 38:7 AND 1 Chronicles 2:3 Er was evil in the sight of the lord, so God killed him.
Genesis 38:10 Onan "spilled his seed" so God killed him.
Notice that aside from one killing that's also mentioned later, I haven't left the FIRST BOOK yet?
I can continue if you would like. There's plenty more.
A few choice ones.
Deuteronomy 2:30-34 God hardens the heart of the King of Hesbon. Why? So God can command his people to slaughter the king and his followers.
2 Kings 17:25 God sends some lions to kill "some" foreigners in Samaria because they didn't fear him.
1 Samuel 15:2-11 Saul is directed to kill every living thing here. Not only all of the Amalekites including children but all their animals too. When he fails to do so (keeping some of the best animals and the king alive, no one else) God gets mad at him.

Don't forget God sent she-bears to tear apart children simply for teasing Elijah.

That was the first one I thought of when Malcolm said that God does not kill. Soddom and Gomorrah was next.
God commanded Saul to completely 'utterly destroy' the Amalekites, and to 'take no spoil'.
Saul disregarded that commandment and was soon no longer King.
In Soddom Lot had 'visitors' and a group of people wanted to attack the visitors. Lot, being a Godly man, sought to protect his visitors by offering the crowd his daughters instead.
Wasn't it Abraham who was commanded to kill his son as a sacrifice only to be told "just kidding", by God , at the last second.
Of course Malcolm believes that he will get to a good place in the afterlife by good works alone. According to Judaism, Islam and Christianity that won't do it.

I'll tell you what. Since you know nothing of economics, keep buying U.S treasuries and investing in the US economy and see me in 2 years so I can laugh in your face. I will be investing abroad. My money will be in real things. Foreign stock. I AM stocking up on food. And as far as guns go. I have had many guns for years. But not because of paranoia, for protection.
Denial is a beautiful thing. In 2 years when all your hopes for utter doom don't happen and the US treasury is just fine, will you come back and admit you have no idea what you are talking about? Your investment guru, Peter Schiff, has been wrong numerous times in the past - in fact if you listened to him you would have lost about 90% of your investments.
Your much hoped for doom is never going to happen. By the way, please take economics 101 - we are over the industrial revolution and in a knowledge economy. Your "OMG IM INVESTING IN 'REAL THINGS'" was debunked about 100 years ago.
You are a failure in every sense of the word.

You're not anyhting but a ponzi scheme economy. You don't even have an economy you have a FAKE economy. You have no savings you have no wealth. You have phony T-bills that are absolutely worthless. You are in charity. You have been living off of the hard work of the chinese and the saudis. This whole fallacy that america is important to to the world economy because we buy their stuff is complete and utter woo! A "knowledge economy" is complete and utter woo!
The UNited states is a house of cards that is collapsing as we speak. ANd if you don't see that my advice to you guys is put the kool-aid down.

It's time for the Americans to get back to work and stop mooching off of the hard working chinese that make everything. Get REAL jobs. Not phony jobs that provide nothing to a productive economy.
They are no longer the innovators of the last century like they were after WW2. They are the largest debtor nation in the world and THEY CAN'T PAY IT BACK! They are gonna default on their debt and interest rates are gonna go through the roof!

There's nothing particularly insightful or groundbreaking about your childish chest-beating here. You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake. We have heard these rants a thousand times from a thousand different names delivered the same way. A tale full of sound and fury, invective and incendiary, signifying nothing.
You screech about economic collapse and inflationary depression with all the knowledge and good sense of a person who just came from a lengthy think-tank over at InfoWars. You call us Kool-Aid drinkers, blind slaves to our government, and yet all that I'm hearing from you is misinformed and ignorant bellyache.
Our government is not perfect. No one here thinks that, we're not idiots. Sure, there are corrupt elements within it. Find me a governing organization without them. Our economy is in a downturn right now, this much is true. However, unemployment is nowhere near Great Depression levels. Employment is a more true indicator of the status of an economy, and it will recover - though it may not see the lofty heights of excess that it once did. That is a good thing in my opinion. A lot of people who would have never contemplated a lifestyle change in the past are looking at it now.
We will survive and prosper. Not because of government spending or bailouts. No sir, it's because of a spirit that I am not entirely convinced that you possess. So hoard your canned food. Stockpile your weapons. Continue to hurl invectives at skeptics on message boards if you think it's a worthwhile use of your time. Just don't lose any sleep over the fact that the vast majority of us here see you for exactly what you are.
And since you think you're smarter than everyone here without having the slightest idea the kind of people you're dealing with, I put it to you:
How would you fix the economy? Institute Sharia law?

It's really funny. For things that are so horrible, I still seem to be employed, busier than ever, still have a house, food, fuel, clothing. My wife just had her hours increased. Gee, I sure hope things don't keep getting bad like this! Don't think I could handle the workload!
I mean, there's never been any economic downturns before in my lifetime! Oh, no! And if some reporter says doom and gloom, who am I to question it? Especially when JihadJane, pargon of truth and light, says it's so, well, Katie, bar the door! Best get to the root cellar, the sky's gonna fall!
Well, maybe next week, I'll start worrying about all this. Don't have time for it now. Have to schedule another training course, to get ready for the next project coming down the pike. Unlike some people, I actually try to keep my knowledge current, and not stuck in '60s politics.

‘Global trade collapsing
Commentary: U.S. exports falling at 49% pace as customers fade away’
by MarketWatch
“ For a while, some analysts held out hope that the rest of the world would be spared the devastation of the collapse of the great American credit bubble. The global economy had de-coupled, they said. America's problems were her own.
No one is saying that any more.
In fact, the latest evidence shows that global trade flows are plunging at an alarming rate.
The Commerce Department reported that the volume of U.S. imports from abroad fell 4.6% in January while exports declined 8.6%, the most since the monthly trade figures were first collected in 1992.
Over the past five months since the credit crunch intensified, real exports have plunged at a 49% annual rate, while real imports have fallen at a 30% pace.
The pace of the decline is unprecedented in modern times, economists say. ‘We doubt even during the Great Depression that trade collapsed with such ferocity,’ said David Greenlaw, an economist for Morgan Stanley.”

Planetary limits? We have a credit crisis, people, not a degeneration of the basis for the entire US economy! It's severe, true, but anyone thinking this is actual ruination instead of what it really is - a painful correction, but nothing more - is being gullible.
When US economic growth and productivity actually goes negative, and when prices go sky high while real wages plummet, wake me. When barbarians are coming for the gate, wake me. Until then, don't tell me the cloudy day means that the sky is falling. Go read history instead. Learn something.

Got enough ego?
I am not following the MSM doom and gloom. You are showing your idiocy by repeating that like a parrot.
YOU told us what the MSM was saying thus illustrating that you knew what the MSM was reporting. (one definition of "following" as in "following the events of")
You have been shown to be wrong in your claim of what the MSM was stating illustrating that you got your information about what the MSM was supposedly reporting by seeing reports of it by third parties such as Alex Jones. does it not bother you that the characterization you made can be shown to be incorrect so easily by linking to actual reports on MSM outlets? Why would it be that your source of information would be incorrect?
The MSM wouldn't say they were in a recession.
Um, yes they did, have, and still do.
You're splittin' hairs here. There are two sides to every story. I hardly EVER, EVER watch TV like you guys. And i never go to MSNBC's, fox news, CNN, Etc. Websites.
So 8 months ago It doesn't matter what the talking heads were saying. Do you even know what propaganda means?
YOU made claims about what was being reported, you have now been shown to be incorrect and now you claim that it does not matter that you were incorrect.

Jane, I do not think anyone here is denying that there is a reccessionary period occuring right now. What the Op was referring to was an apocalypse of one sort or another.
Take the 'asteroid will destroy us' senario for example. No one doubts that space objects do hit the earth quite often, no one doubts that moderatly big or planet killer sized objects do hit the earth as well. However the woo peddlers would have us believe that either they know when such an apocalypse will occur or the TPTB know and are not telling us. Perhaps it will occur in 2012?
As far as economic apocalypse we are told by the Jonesian doom and gloomers that it is at hand. I do not believe that it is. History is certainly on my side. The Great Depression of the early last century occured and the world did not throw back to the stone age. Industry did rebound, civilisation as we know id did not end.

No, they are examples. Once again the OP refers to apocalyptic occurances. The regular ups and downs of economy are not the stuff of consipracy, even when they reach the extremes of what we have experienced in the past.
malcolmx above has been telling us basically that the world, or more specifically, the USA's, economy is going to a hot place in a hand held conveyance. He informs us that the USA will soon be the economic basket case that Zimbabwe now is. While that is not quite stone age, I did exaggerate for effect, I believe that you may well have understood what I was getting at. Perhaps you could substitute 3rd world society for 'stone age'.
The OP asks when the apocalypse is going to occur given that it has been predicted for a great many decades now.

Unless one regards an alien invasion as a natural disaster, the OP refers exclusively to man-made disasters.
What I understood from your "stone age" exaggeration is that you aren't really interested in discussing down-to-earth reality but prefer to make meaningless quips. The currently unfolding financial/economic disaster may well offer many ordinary US Americans apocalyptic experiences. How many house-owners thought their dodgy mortgage arrangements would end up with them living in a tent?
"3rd world society" would have been more acceptable reference as the US already displays some of the characteristics of a Third World economy, such as impoverished masses languishing beneath a class of superrich, fraudulent parasites.
You may be well advised not to regard the current “downturn” as part of “the regular ups and downs of economy” but as something much more extreme than anything "we have experienced in the past". We are experiencing the ending of the Age of Oil.
But did "truthers" and conspiradroids in general predict this? No.
Your stopped 24h watch is right once a day, but only in hindsight.
I don't wear a watch.
As you perhaps imply with your "conspiradroids in general" add-on, the cartoon-like way that "Truther" is used in the OP is so broad as to be verging on meaningless.
People who probably fall into your ill-defined categories have indeed been predicting global economic collapse for many years, because they recognise that the resources on which our civilisation depends are being rapidly depleted.
More specifically Catherine Austin Fitts predicted the current scenario in 1995:
The Fed Did Indeed Cause the Housing Bubble
http://solari.com/blog/?p=2293
Financial Coup d’Etat
http://solari.com/blog/?p=2058#more-2058
Other twoofer commentators such as Carolyn Baker, James Kunstler, Kirkpatrick Sale, Michael Ruppert, Dmitry Orlov, Sharon Astyk, Jan Lundberg, Abraham Lincoln;), John Michael Greer, and Jared Diamond, for example, have been advising people to prepare for an inevitable economic collapse for several years. Most agree that it is happening more quickly than they predicted. The Transition Town Movement has been taking active steps to prepare people for a global powerdown.

No, but I'll predict that any recoveries will be a short-lived blips as we spiral down the imperial plug hole.
Once again we ask, when will the economic apocalypse occur? How long will it be before the USA resembles present day Zimbabwe?
I can predict that China will suffer a civil war that will tear its economy apart. After all it is constituted by a multitude of different cultures and languages, and the central gov't has in recent times had to deal with one major protest. It is meaningless unless I can attach some specific timeframe to it.
Unless one regards an alien invasion as a natural disaster, the OP refers exclusively to man-made disasters.
None of which has materialised in the manner or timeframe that the CT's have set forth, ever.
What I understood from your "stone age" exaggeration is that you aren't really interested in discussing down-to-earth reality but prefer to make meaningless quips.
You misunderstood.
The currently unfolding financial/economic disaster may well offer many ordinary US Americans apocalyptic experiences. How many house-owners thought their dodgy mortgage arrangements would end up with them living in a tent?
When my parents pass away I will consider that apocalytic, if I lost my job that would be apocalyptic in my household. However people have been dieing or losing their jobs forever in the former and since the beginning of modern society in the later. While they are dire circumstances to those affected they do not constitute a global or country wide apocalypse. That would require something greater than the deaths in the period known as the Black Plague(or WW2), or an economic collapse greater than that of the Great Depression.
"3rd world society" would have been more acceptable reference as the US already displays some of the characteristics of a Third World economy, such as impoverished masses languishing beneath a class of superrich, fraudulent parasites.
The majority of US workers make $30K-50K/year. Where does that fit in your characterisation of the US economy?
You may be well advised not to regard the current “downturn” as part of “the regular ups and downs of economy” but as something much more extreme than anything "we have experienced in the past". We are experiencing the ending of the Age of Oil.
Warning noted but what evidence is there that this is so much more than part of the regular cycles of world economy and actually an indication that we are sliding into a period of severe economic meltdown along the lines of what the survivalists are preparing for?
I don't wear a watch.
Must be nice not to have to be places or do tasks on a schedule.

Once again we are not speaking about the present downturn unless you can point to evidence that it is not going to turn around or will do so only for a defined 'short' time and then completely fall apart.
Oh I believe that there are lot more than 4000 Jews in NYC.
There were NOT 4000 Jews warned not to be in the WTC towers, which is the contention i believe that you are alluding to.
In fact one need only read the list of the dead in lower Manhattan on 9/11 to understand that there were Jews indeed killed that day IN THE TOWERS.
So once again you prove your utter ignorance. I don't know what is worse, your ignorance or your inability to discern it.
And that information was determined by who?
Did 2 jews die in NY on 9/11? OR did bush's speechwriters blow the number up to 400?
Odigo?
It doesn't matter either way to be honest. There is evidence that the jews knew about 9/11 and did nothing and there is evidence that BECAUSE of the ACTIONS of the jews in Israel, we were attacked on 9/11, now I submit to you that that is using a scapegoat (if you believe the mainstream account) but I don't accept the original account. But that is for another topic.

Why does the MSM get all the credit when I was saying the economy was fake and in dire straits when hank paulson was on CNN in spring of '08 saying the banks have never been better?
I was calling recession when the MSM wasn't. Why do they get all the credit? I watch alternative media, I'll give you that.
Here, I'll let your types explain it to you.
MTN3s2iVKKI
You're splittin' hairs.
I'm sorry you're not that bright.
Ah I see you were predicting it in spring'08 yet you came to JREF in March and tell us this now. Let me guess some other predictions you probably made:
1. George Bush was going to institute martial law.
2. Bush would go to war with Iran
3. McCain would be elected president
4. Bush would be elected president for life
5. Fema Camps.
My point proven.
BTW, I like how you say you don't watch the MSM yet reference a CNN interview. So much for not following the MSM
The MSM isn't getting credit. That has nothing to do with the topic. You said the MSM wasn't reporting on the coming economic crisis last year. I proved you wrong. It just has to do with proving you wrong, not saying the MSM gets all the credit.
Sorry but Prison Planet, Rense, and other nutjob websites are not alternative media.

I don't watch 60 minutes. My point is that when you are dealing with the tube, you have to sift through the garbage to get the facts. That is what you do when dealing with propaganda. When you read the newspaper you have to only take about half of what you read.
Benja is trying to be cute. His argument is "well, media is all mediums pertaining to.." Blah blah blah.
He's gonna want me to be super duper precise and make sure I am very careful with my words. I'm not gonna do that. He's being shrewd for a reason. I would not be surprised to find out that he is a jew.
You have to sift through the crap whether it's newspaper, internet, tv etc.
That is what you do. Everybody knows that.
By sifting through the garbage you obviously mean pushing through the things you disagree with, you know, like common sense.
I don't want you to be super precise. And I don't need to. You've admitted that you are hypocrite. You're the type who goes "OOOOOOOO I'm so anti-MSM, that makes me hip," yet you regurgitate what the MSM says, in this case the economic crisis. You basically believe the MSM always lies, so obviously they must be lying about the economy.
And so what if I'm "a jew." What are you going to do about it?

Right, we're getting somewhere here. Can you put some kind of order of magnitude on the duration of "short-lived"? A temporary economic recovery lasting a year? Ten years? A century?
Dave
There are too many variables to make exact predictions but it hard to see how repeated oil-price shocks will not result from and scupper every economic recovery from now to eternity ;)!
I think that within a generation (25 years?) it will be very clear that the model of perpetual economic growth was always doomed to fail.
Here are a couple of mainstream articles examining financial indicators and forecasts:
'Current Economic Crisis Worse than the Great Depression'
http://www.marketoracle.co.uk/Article7099.html
'Financial Crisis Worst is Yet to Come, Market Forecasts Into 2015'
http://www.marketoracle.co.uk/Article9471.html
Once again we ask, when will the economic apocalypse occur? How long will it be before the USA resembles present day Zimbabwe?
I'm not up to speed on the plan to return stolen land to Native Americans so cannot comment on the Zimbabwe comparison.
The economic "apocalypse" is already occurring.
I can predict that China will suffer a civil war that will tear its economy apart. After all it is constituted by a multitude of different cultures and languages, and the central gov't has in recent times had to deal with one major protest. It is meaningless unless I can attach some specific timeframe to it.
What is your timeframe for the Chinese civil war?
None of which has materialised in the manner or timeframe that the CT's have set forth, ever.
Partly true, but why did you turn the conversation to generalized apocalypse rather than the varieties of political oppression and fairy tales outlined in the OP?
When my parents pass away I will consider that apocalytic, if I lost my job that would be apocalyptic in my household. However people have been dieing or losing their jobs forever in the former and since the beginning of modern society in the later. While they are dire circumstances to those affected they do not constitute a global or country wide apocalypse. That would require something greater than the deaths in the period known as the Black Plague(or WW2), or an economic collapse greater than that of the Great Depression.
Economic collapse greater than the Great Depression is exactly what is being predicted. It even has a name already: "The Greater Depression."
The majority of US workers make $30K-50K/year. Where does that fit in your characterisation of the US economy?
It's early days. They haven't lost their jobs yet.
Warning noted but what evidence is there that this is so much more than part of the regular cycles of world economy and actually an indication that we are sliding into a period of severe economic meltdown along the lines of what the survivalists are preparing for?
Is "survivalists" another of your decorative exaggerations?
The evidence suggests that a declining oil supply will undermine all future attempts to sustain economic recovery.
See links given above.
Must be nice not to have to be places or do tasks on a schedule.
I have a reputation for punctuality. The world is full of clocks.
Once again we are not speaking about the present downturn unless you can point to evidence that it is not going to turn around or will do so only for a defined 'short' time and then completely fall apart.
Catherine Austin Fitts describes a sustained process of organized looting which undermines all attempts to create stable, nourishing economies. There is no sign that this theft is being stopped. On the contrary, the criminals responsible for it are being given billions trillions of dollars by the US and other governments.
I have read some of Jared Diamond's work.
Do you have a quote from Diamond in which he warns of something that could be characterised as a complete "global powerdown"?
The word "complete" appears to be another of your decorative exaggerations as it does not appear in my post. I mention "Powerdown" specifically in relation to Transition Towns. See:
"Energy Descent Action Plan"
http://www.transitiontowns.org/
The effects of resource depletion, however, are central to Diamond's work.
You would do well to learn about Bernanke. Yes, he passed economics but his degree was not handed to him. His family struggled to send him to university, they were not rich.
It is perhaps a lesson to others that it pays off to sacrifice in order to send your kids to college.
If only his parents hadn't bothered, perhaps he would found an honest profession. What a waste!

The list of the dead was compiled by the various companies that were tenents in the buildings. This was followed up by NYPD (IIRC) and after the fact there would have been life insurance companies having to accept the findings or investigate further themselves.
I was not refering to any speech made by GWB, I was refering to the list of the dead due to the events of 9/11.
For instance I also know that several Canadians were among the victims from that list. Again, its been a while so I don't have a link but its not rocket science to find it. If you have a specific reason to doubt that list let's have it. If your sole reason to discount it is that you will not accept anything that does not come from Alex Jones or similar then you are once again illustrating your own foolishness.
Actually Odigo received a vague message that in hindsight could refer to the attacks. The exact wording is available on the internet somehwere. Its been a while since I had to deal with a rabid Jew-hater such as yourself.
Now which is it, did no, or few Jews die at the WTC complex because they were warned not to go to work, OR did Mossad/Israel know in advance and do nothing thus allowing the Jewish personell at the WTC to perish? Logic would dictate that the two senarios are mutually exclusive.

That certainly was the catalyst to the destruction of Rhodesia's economy. However I was refering to the state of the economy not the method by which it got there.
The economic "apocalypse" is already occurring.
It doesn't feel like one. I suppose you'd add "yet".
What is your timeframe for the Chinese civil war?
Keeping in mind that mine was an fictitious example of to illustrate the fallacy of the predictive ability of CT's so far;
I think that within a generation (25 years?) it will be very clear that a rise of the democracy movement coupled with religious and cultural factions wanting more autonomy in China will bring about a violent reaction against the Central Gov't.
Partly true, but why did you turn the conversation to generalized apocalypse rather than the varieties of political oppression and fairy tales outlined in the OP?
"Martial law? FEMA camps? Revoking free speech? One world government? Mass killings? Alien invasion?"
I believe that I was following the thread's drift as per malcolm's posts.
I have yet to see martial law, FEMA camps(prison camps), the revocation of Free Speech (though it did suffer under the last adminstration, they are gone now), still no sign of OWG, nor mass killings (other than I suppose 9/11 which was the result of an extra-governmental terrorist organization who's stated goal is to rid the middle east of westerners and western influence) and Alien invasion, nope haven't sen it.
Economic collapse greater than the Great Depression is exactly what is being predicted. It even has a name already: "The Greater Depression."
Cute! Catchy.
It's early days. They haven't lost their jobs yet.
there's that "yet". I suppose its 25 years again right?
Is "survivalists" another of your decorative exaggerations?
Nope, that's what they were called in the 80's. Is there a new term now?
The evidence suggests that a declining oil supply will undermine all future attempts to sustain economic recovery.
You area aware that the limits to growth apocalytic senarios always assume direct extrapolation from present day trends.
The word "complete" appears to be another of your decorative exaggerations as it does not appear in my post. I mention "Powerdown" specifically in relation to Transition Towns. See:

The effects of resource depletion, however, are central to Diamond's work.
A changing of the forces driving the economy of the world is expected. Its happened many times over human history. hell insurance and banking were invented 400 years ago, stock markets 300 years ago, industrial society 200 years ago, electronic information 50 years ago. All of them changed the world but society and civilisation survived.

Jews split hairs and quibble over technicalities? This is hardly a kind sentiment.
But I think the master-stroke might well be this gem:
I had a feeling you were a jew. This place is infested with them.
Infested you say? That doesn't sound like you like Jews at all, does it Mr. Small Minded Bigot?
Incidentally you never replied to my list of people directly killed by God.

Nice name-calling. I like you divert attention away from the issues.
Bring up kashmir, I don't care it still doesn't hide the fact that the jews of Israel stabbed us in the back on 9/11.
Ok, do you or do you not recall saying ;
"Benja is trying to be cute. His argument is "well, media is all mediums pertaining to.." Blah blah blah.
He's gonna want me to be super duper precise and make sure I am very careful with my words. I'm not gonna do that. He's being shrewd for a reason. I would not be surprised to find out that he is a jew"
"No, the lesson is... Jews rule the world.
The main culprit of the economic collapse is Alan Greenspan, a jew, and now bernanke, a jew, knows better, but continues to con the public.
The neocons got is into Iraq, they are jews. They were 4000 Israelis in New York on 9/11, they are jews. The list goes on and on. "
"It doesn't matter either way to be honest. But that is for another topic"
though I admit to not being able to fully comprehend the last bit of gobblty-gook in the above
"theres is no way that Israel could NOT have known.
They either stabbed us in the back, or they were the orchestrators of the whole thing. ISrael, Mossad, their sayanim etc.
....... No matter how you slice it, the jews were behind 9/11."
"I had a feeling you were a jew. This place is infested with them. "
You blame "jews" for just about everything and you accuse anyone you do not like of being a "jew" and characterize this forum which is filled with people who disagree with you as being "infested" (ie. equating JREF members with jews, and jews with vermin) with "jews".
You have never stated that you simply hate Zionism. No you have always, in this thread, used the term "jew" to describe persons who you do not like. You don't like GWB, he must be a jew. abenja1 states he is jewish, you say that you had a feeling he was a jew because he argues like one.

How does that falsify my statement;
Right, I forgot, Mossad/Israel knows absolutly everything because everything originates from the Mossad/Israel
Your evidence that the 'jews' knew about 911, in the quote of you that i used in the above post , was that Israel spys on the USA. I asked you how that fits with your contention. You now say it doesn't?
I brought up the fact that there are a lot of patently jewish surnames in the list of the dead and your reply was that the list is tainted because the gov't or the jews compiled the list. How does that not fit my description of your using a circular arguement?

Do you have a quote from Diamond in which he warns of something that could be characterised as a complete "global powerdown"?
The word "complete" appears to be another of your decorative exaggerations as it does not appear in my post. I mention "Powerdown" specifically in relation to Transition Towns. See:
"Energy Descent Action Plan"

The effects of resource depletion, however, are central to Diamond's work.

"I've never seen a sincere white man, not when it comes to helping black people. Usually things like this are done by white people to benefit themselves. "Brother, remember the time that white college girl came into the restaurant—the one who wanted to help the [Black] Muslims and the whites get together—and I told her there wasn't a ghost of a chance and she went away crying? Well, I've lived to regret that incident. In many parts of the African continent I saw white students helping black people. Something like this kills a lot of argument. I did many things as a [Black] Muslim that I'm sorry for now. I was a zombie then—like all [Black] Muslims—I was hypnotized, pointed in a certain direction and told to march. Well, I guess a man's entitled to make a fool of himself if he's ready to pay the cost. It cost me 12 years.
That was a bad scene, brother. The sickness and madness of those days—I'm glad to be free of them. It's a time for martyrs now. And if I'm to be one, it will be in the cause of brotherhood. That's the only thing that can save this country. I've learned it the hard way -- but I've learned it. And that's the significant thing."

Food and energy shortages will create 'perfect storm', says Prof John Beddington
Growing populations, falling energy sources and food shortages will create the "perfect storm" by 2030, the government's chief scientist Professor John Beddington has said.

“The demand for resources will create a crisis with dire consequences, Prof Beddington predicts.
Demand for food and energy will jump 50 per cent by 2030 and for fresh water by 30 per cent, as the global population tops 8.3 billion, he is due to tell a conference in London.

"Powerdown", as I already explained, is something that Transition Towns is focussing on. It is not a synonym for "apocalypse or "catastrophe" and can't simply be tied to Jared Diamond and then used to beat me over the head!
Transition Towns acknowledges that there will be less energy available in the future and that we need to prepare for that future now in order to make the transition to a lower energy world less traumatic. Developing "better crops and better harvesting techniques" can be seen in a similar light.
As you can see from my words, below, I talked about economic collapse, not a collapse of the banking system:
Other twoofer commentators such as Carolyn Baker, James Kunstler, Kirkpatrick Sale, Michael Ruppert, Dmitry Orlov, Sharon Astyk, Jan Lundberg, Abraham Lincoln;), John Michael Greer, and Jared Diamond, for example, have been advising people to prepare for an inevitable economic collapse for several years. Most agree that it is happening more quickly than they predicted. The Transition Town Movement has been taking active steps to prepare people for a global powerdown.
Oh and JJ, I read the other article you lonked to. The author certainly paints a doom and gloom senario. It struck me that he offers no way out of the path to a 'greater depression'. Such 'its gonna happen' doom and gloom seems to often miss the paths by which the senario will be thwarted.

No, do you believe that it is unavoidable?
Do you believe that there are no limits to growth?
I believe that the way the subject is approached by some ignores that society is not static and that growth need not mean a strict extrapolation of what is in place now.
What are your thoughts on imminent "Peak Oil"? Do you believe that to be another false alarm?
