Should children be raised by the government?

I chose no. The very thought of the government depriving people of their children to raise them according to government standards horrifies me. When the government starts doing that, it's time to overthrow it.

This is a trick question, isn't it? Because it sounds too good to be true! :p

JAR, I'll let you in on a little secret, all children are different. It is not possible to say what is good or not good for "children". Each child identified as being in danger has to be assesed and a decision made.....Not an easy job but doing nothing is not acceptable in some cases. If it is determined that a child is in serious danger then removal to a government establishment may be the best option

I voted 'no'.
Should children be raised by the government. No.
Should an abused child be taken from its parents. Yes.

This scheme, to have the government raise our children, is part of Hollywood's secret agenda. Parents the world over will be able to go to movies again, once they don't have to worry about getting a sitter. The movie business will take off like crazy.

I voted that children should not be raised by the government , though I will say there are exeptions, such as whent he parents die and there is no next of kin, there is no one else to do it, at least until arrangements have ben made.

However I find discussing this topic rather like discussing whether we should run for the hills or stand and fight when the Martians invade. Both scenarios are equally unlikely in my opinion.

Is the question about whether, immediately after birth, our children should be taken from us and raised in Government-sponsored Baby Farms?

Or is it about whether the state should step in to remove children from abusive or neglectful parents?
