I have just purchased a Webcam Linksys Wireless-G Internet Home Monitoring Camera Model no. WVC54GCA. I'd like to be able to stream video onto my website - what software do you recommend and would you kindly provide a link. I have found one place http://www.nchsoftware.com/broadcam/index.html and wonder about this one. They allow a free download if you link back to their site.

Anyway - I'd appreciate some suggestions. I am not necessairly looking for free software download.

Actually, I just realized I would want video capture (not streaming). http://www.nchsoftware.com/capture/index.html

Anyone use this video capture software?

Thanks,
Deb

Could you give some idea of what you are planning on using it for? It might help people make better suggestions.

I've used YAWCAM (http://www.yawcam.com/). It's java based and free so you could give it a try. It has streaming but I've never used it. I prefer to upload periodic images as I've never had anything interesting enough to point at to justify the streaming bandwidth. It's been about a year since I last used it but I seem to remember that YAWCAM would crash occasionally on Windows XP.

If you are looking for video capture you might do better with a video editing program that can capture directly from a web cam. There is a current thread on video editing, you may want to ask in there.
