Overall, I'm quite pleased with them. They're no-nonsense...just the presentations from Randi et al. Quality is generally good, but there are some sound cut outs that I imagine were problems at the convention rather than during the DVD production.

My biggest peeve is that there is obiously a lot going on with the powerpoint presentations that you can't see. The audience is laughing, and you don't know why.

So I'd recommend them for someone who wants a taste of what's to come, but I suggest that for the Amazing 2, there be two cameras..one for the speaker and one for his/her presentation.

Phil (Al), I didn't mean any disrespect as I bought both DVDs at the same time, so you are Al as are Dave and Michael. Mea maxima culpa for referring to you fine gentlemen (why no wiomen?) as Al.

Anyway, I'm dying to know what you were showing the screen at the beginning that everyone was laughing at. The DVD doesn't show much of your Powerpoint presentation. Can you enlighten, or are you too annoyed with me? Please don't be...I'm one of those people who yells "There's no sound in space!!!" at every sci fi movie.

Heh. I have been "et al." on several astronomical papers (like 35th out of 40 authors) so being one here is an honor. :D

I don't have the actual presentation I gave here; it's on my PC at work. I'll have to check it and see what dumb joke I made.

Hey, Al, are you any relation to Phil?
Or is Al just trying to Phil Space? :D

IIRC it was Marshall Applewhite's infamous face.

It was a rather morbid group at TAM I'm afraid...

I showed Applewhite's face at the end, actually. It's the "why we need to do this sort of thing" conclusion. When I get my DVD I'll check to see. I'm curious now too.

I just watched the DVD yesterday Phil, and I believe your memory is correct.

I also wanted to comment that you are a man after my own heart with your style of dress. When I saw you get on stage, I thought, "hey, he dresses like me". Button down collar cotton longsleve shirt, blue jeans, old baseball hat..........my kinda guy Phil.

I should also mention that we are both tallish white guys who wear glasses, etc. Major difference is, I have lots of hair.:p

Anyhow, it was a good talk Phil. Wish I could have seen it in person. Actually all 4 talks were good. I just wish they could have put the entire thing on DVD so that I could have seen Hal and Girl6 give their presentations.
