A rather imaginative use of government money - £4,500 grant to Welsh Psychics.

I'm curious, but will wait till I hear the whole story. In the meantime my Mermaid hunting expeditions off the North Norfolk Coast may have to apply for funding. :) Still looking for business partners for that scheme!

"People who have lost mums and dads or a child deserve all the respect in the world in their grieving, and they deserve a medium who can give them respect.
They deserve to be taken by a con artist with a good imagination?

Oh FFS.

The couple, who run the academy from their home, charge £65 per head for a workshop "designed to bring greater understanding of your awareness by using a process to develop your mediumship".
So, we're spending taxpayers' money on helping the unemployed be relieved of a further £65 which would otherwise have put food in their children's mouths? Yep, that should help the country out of recession.

Norfolk?! I'd come in as a business partner, but everyone knows you only find mermaids in the Maldives (and then only in the five star hotels).

Looks like as long as the DWP think you're going to make money out of your new business, they don't care what that business is.

The DWP don't create the rules, they simply administer the various schemes and benefits according to relevent legislation laid down by Parliament. (I have tried to find the relevent literature abut the scheme but don't have a huge amount of time atm, I know it is EU funded - I assume certain agreements were put in place as to how funding was dished out)

If the application meets all the requirements as laid down by that legislation they have to pay out. If they don't then you have subjective discrimination which would unlawful, then the DWP would be in a whole lot of bother.

It's not right to me, but as long as it's lawful and gets people off the dole who's to argue. Something we all know on here is that there is certainly a market for their "project".
