Does anyone know how to convince the clock in the lower right corner of the screen to show the time with the seconds? I have it configured for 24-hour clock, and in Control Panel, I'm sure I told it to use seconds, but the taskbar display only shows the hour and minute.

I don't think it's possible, short of installing a third-party application. The sidebar widget is capable of showing seconds, but not the system tray clock, apparently.

I’ve noticed the same thing in XP. In fact by default, time display is supposed to include seconds, but they don’t show in the system tray.

Why do you need the "seconds-display" anyway?

Among other things, to better estimate my time between searches. Seems my own sense of time passage is not completely accurate. :)

I don't believe Windows has ever had the option. Originally it was probably because updating it every second would waste too many resources.

One solution might be to disable the standard clock and see if there's a third-party clock toolbar that can be added to the taskbar (in a similar fashion to the quick launch and address toolbar).

Click on the taskbar time display.
You get a calendar and a watch display that shows seconds.
Enjoy!

I use the sidebar gadget "TwentyFourClock". Has the seconds...

I try to post at least once a year, but I'm on here reading a lot. I don't think the title "New Blood" is accurate! Oh well, there goes my post for 2010!
