I could not resist my silliest headline so far - hope I have not offended Professor Wiseman by it, but doubt he will ever see it. He was asked by New Scientist to comment on a piece on the relationship building power of spanking - well S&M generally, but New Scientist is an English publication so it focussed on l'vice anglais - and he came out with some actually very useful and sensible advice. You can read it here --

To be honest though, if the choice was spanking or housework, well my house would be full of whips... ;)

It is interesting that such "stimulation" is often considered to be extremely kinky or even depraved, yet cultures throughout the world have indulged with considerable enthusiasm.

I suppose Desmond Morris might point to the similarity between our ancestor's female buttocks becoming inflamed during estrus and the rosy glow that follows such...Practice.

Why do some people get all the fun studies to do?

It's actually age-old relationship advice: to keep the romance and good feelings in a relationship, the couples are encouraged to do things together.

In which case I should be aroused by the image of two bald, sunburned men wrestling on the ground.

Oh, hang on.

Well, I hope everyone wears nipple-clamps while they cook, that's just sanitary.

Richard Wiseman, a psychologist at the University of Hertfordshire in Hatfield, UK, adds that almost any shared activity is likely to promote interpersonal closeness. "It doesn't have to be tying up your partner or placing clamps on their nipples, it could be something as simple as cooking a meal together or even doing the housework as a duo," he says

Hey, if my husband shared the activities of housework and cooking with me, I'd be up for a little spankin'.......!:p
