I find this very very sad. A concert for Holocaust survivors by Palestinian children was a tiny glimmer of humanity in a sea of hatred and bloodshed. It was not a huge thing..but it still meant something.

For the Palestinians to condemn this, fire the conductor, and prevent her from ever again entering the refugee camp is a real tragedy.

But yes, a good thing was done and no one can change that. I hope the children who took part in this appreciate the good deed that they did and I pray that somehow they are rewarded for it.

Both are true. Did you have a point? Didn't the OP praise those Palestinians who performed the concert?

Isn't the OP title too pessimistic? I think that the fact that such gestures exist, in a region we hear altogether to much bad stuff about, should be celebrated no matter how many bigots wants the place to be a war-ridden hell of checkpoints, xenophobia and suicide bombings:).

A candle is seems brighter...the darker the cave is. So very true, and with the media's habit of reporting pretty much only bad news - they need all the candles they can get.

Parky, remember when you said you had an "epiphany" about making threads like this? I believe it was yesterday. What happened during that short timespan to make you reconsider?

What happened during that short timespan to make you reconsider? Oh, that was on threads attacking Jews. Now he's moving on to attacking Palestinians:p.

what exactly is wrong with this thread?

am I forever compelled to not make threads about Israelis or Palestinians?

But, oh, wait, this thread attacks Palestinians, so I guess then its ok...right?

Now now, Parky - it's not just the Palestinians who show disrespect for the Holocaust survivors:

No, Oliver. They're showing disrespect for the people who've written fake holocaust memoirs and tried to peddle them as real. (And to the fuzzy-wuzzy feel good folks like Oprah who just want to gobble the stories up.) Heeb is very heavy-handed satire. Not everyone's cup of borscht, but meant as humor.

'Palestinians condemn Palestinian gesture of humanity to Holocaust survivors' is a messy and confusing title. Besides that, the Palestinian participants didn't even know what they were doing was for Holocaust survivors. The title is accurate based on the article it linked to.

parky is quite rightly ignoring the people who want to diminish the criticism and exposing of Israel's atrocities and racism.

No, you are not forever compelled to not make threads about Israelis or Palestinians. However, it is interesting that not a day after you gave the impression that you were going to stop making these kinds of threads, you couldn't resist making another one. Why do you insist on making 3 Israel/Palestine threads a day? Isn't one a week enough?

But, oh, wait, this thread attacks Palestinians, so I guess then its ok...right?

To be honest, I just saw that it included the words "Palestinians" and "Holocaust" and it was (SURPRISE!) another thread by parky basically baiting people to fight about the issue.

Yes, this is what happens when two groups of moronic, violent religious extremists square off.

Nobody said or implied ALL Palestinians condemn the concert. Only that many of them do. The point of the article is not that all Palestinians are Jew-haters, but how those who are not are ostracized by those who are.

It didn't strike me as that powerful, but the end is quite sad.
