New malaria treatment

Someone is working on a new treatment for malaria, to be given in concert with existing drugs. And it is ....

300 million victims and they tested 75 children? Seems a bit disproportionate. With all the lines of attack on malaria, some must be a bit less probable than others, but it's hard to know which.
Interesting to see nitric oxide cropping up again. Seems to be involved in more biological systems than anyone suspected.
As it helps relax blood vessels, can we expect to see arginine touted as the next viagra substitute I wonder?

Actually, Viagra constricts blood vessels. Y'know, able to get more pressure with less blood and all. It might be marketable as Anti-Viagra, though. ("Afraid to go to the front of the classroom? Worried that others may learn of your feelings for them? Never fear! Anti-Viagra is here!")

Triclosan, the antibacterial agent found in a lot of household products inhibits malaria (http://www.nature.com/cgi-taf/DynaPage.taf?file=/nm/journal/v7/n2/abs/nm0201_167.html&dynoptions=doi1046287500). Now, if only we could get those kids to eat those matress pads...
