There are plenty of whackjobs of various stripes out here. I am surprised they only have one person signed up.

That's Matt Naus' site. Matt's one of the more deranged Troofers:

All that needs to be done to kill the entire "Trooth" movement is to advertise that web site. Highlight it everywhere. With links to Cap'n Bob's hilarious little ego-fest and online DVD/ball cap/spaghetti-string nightie store. Toss in a link to Craig/Alpo's joke, as well.

Oh, lotsa new-agey woo for sure mixed in with a big asian influence in the "natural" product/cures business, (did you know that "Hawaiian Salt" is better for your blood pressure?!?), but I've only seen a single "inside job" bumper sticker in my travels around Oahu.

I have met two 9/11 CTists on Maui, although only one was any kind of serious about it. It didn't take him very long to realize that I probably wasn't a very good conversion candidate.
And I did not know that about Hawaiian Salt. Does it have to be the red one? ;)

Truthers in Paradise? did they get tired of it being 84.7 degrees everyday?

haha, i was just back home in HAwaii over Easter Weekend. it was nice, 81 degree but windy weather. GEE i miss home, but so much has changed since I was there last year (wow alot can change in only 1 year)
Its sad to see that the "person" who signed that crap, puts him/herself down as a "teacher/student".... hopefully, its a home school teacher, and not on in the fine public schools there.

What a waste of skin and oxygen. There should be restraining orders to keep him away from public appearances of elected officials. He's the kind who might whip out a firearm some day.

On the one hand, I'm terribly disappointed that woo and delusion can be found outside the continental US borders. Yes, I know uncritical thinking is not the province of one country - believe me, I've seen enough in, say, the Philippines, or from reading stuff about Lebanon, to know this isn't so - but it still saddens me. Bright sun, warm beach, waving palm trees, crashing surf... fruitbar nutcake pontificating on bullpucky... :(
I want to idealize the place, dammit! ;)

Something about them having a real passing attack and taking their division?? :D

That is so strange... even with living in a college town, and actually driving by and seeing a DRG talk advertised at one of our local theaters (no clue how well or ill it went), I've only met a grand total of <i>two</i> people IRL who've even <i>heard</i> of 9/11 Truthers. One of them dismissed them outright; the other in so many words said that their stuff was something you'd like to believe i.e. harsh criticism of the government, but when you actually hear it, it sounded so "full of it". So that's two people I know completely outside the internet, and neither were buying.
Don't get me wrong; I don't want to actually meet conspiracy peddlers face to face. I've got better things to do with my time. Rather, my point is that this 9/11 fantasy peddling is sooooooo strictly an internet phenomenon, with only occasional splashes into the real world, and that's completely evident when I ask myself "How many have I seen off the internet"? Hell, I only occasionally see DRG's books anywhere. And I've seen what, only one or two cars with truther bumperstickers? Even considering the fact that numbers are so small at truther events, I'm still shocked that some of these gatherings can gather upwards of 10 people. There are 10 believers within driving distance of each other??
If it weren't for the internet, 9/11 conspiracy peddling would be a microscopic phenomenon. As it is, even with the 'net it barely registers.

The one I have met who takes it seriously takes pretty much any batpiss crazy nonsense and runs with it. He is actually a very nice person, just completely paranoid about any sort of authority figure. He hosted a party that my husband and I attended, and it was the one and only time that I ever saw the print version of American Free Press.

I wouldn't be surprised. (Consider that I overheard it as part of a conversation where one woman was telling another that the "with Sea Salt" product they were looking at was better because sea salt has less sodium :eye-poppi)

Somebody wake me up when the Phins get a real offense again - I'm still skeptical (on skeptic site no less!) on Pennington's long term success. Until then I'm still keeping my work-on-sundays schedule.
And I've seen what, only one or two cars with truther bumperstickers?
Funny, considering that the only "9/11 was an inside job" bumper sticker I've seen was not on car (It's on the back of a stop sign in the Kaimuki area). Not a single one of the "spiritual/new age/natureopath" friends I have have ever brought 9/11 up. Even the staunch JFK conspiracist I know was pretty disgusted by the Troofers.
As it is, even with the 'net it barely registers.
Ditto in my experience.
