Anybody seen this show? I have, and I think it's great, no matter what religion you follow/don't follow (I'm agnostic, BTW). I actually like this non-denominational God, his snark, and how he pretty much let's Joan things her own way (although I'm sure some of you will disagree with me on that point). I also like how Joan and God react to one another.

For those not in the know, Joan of Arcadia is a new show about a family living in Maryland whose daughter, Joan, can talk to somebody claiming to be God. God, who appears in various guises, asks Joan to do seemingly mundane stuff (like joining the cheeleading squad), that end up helping the people around her.

Whaddya all say. Good, bad?

I'll admit I actually rather enjoy the show.

I think I would like it better, though, if they made it less clear whether she was actually talking to God or was just nuts. ;)

maybe on the last episode she'll wake up on her bed and say "damn, i'm never eating mushrooms again". or maybe the god dude could morph into Cthulhu (all hundred feet of him). Cthulhu could then say "sike!" and devour her on the spot. i'd watch that!

Play on people's religion, get lots a moolah...

(And I'm not much impressed with that show "1-800-Missing" on the Lifetime Channel either...)

What most people don't realize about that show is that the morphing dude is really Satan.

Cthulhu is so much more badass than Satan.

(Transplanted from my thread long ago in " Movies, TV, Music, Computer Gaming, and other Entertainment", to which no one replied, not even once, leaving me feeling worthless and unwanted)

Anyone watching this new show? I mention it here since it seems to be building up some kind of theme of faith vs. science. The Oct 10 episode in particular had a police psychic, who totally gets trashed by the storyline :) The mother and father seem to be faith and science personified.

Aside from the skeptic interest, it's a good ease-off for those going through Buffy withdrawal, although it lacks any good martial arts.

As George Burns taught us so well, God is a real smart-ass. The show can't seem to get away from this tried formula. I also suspect that the mouth of God is going to continue to spout things either vague or tautological; ratings would probably drop quite a bit if He attempted to clear up that whole saved by grace/saved by good works thing, or explained that yes, sinners are all roasting in eternal Hell. Hey, I would watch more if it started to get real controversial.

Oh, since I'm rambling on, can we please, please get away from the stereotypical nerd with the big glasses who uses big words gratuitously? It's been done to death.

Cthulhu can eat up all the puny gods and demons of mankind for breakfast and still get hungry again before lunch. Come to think of it, now there's a show I'd watch - every week seeing Cthulhu gobble up some lesser diety.

DarkPrimus,
Thanks for that Jack Chick does Cthulhu link. Made my entire day :)
