God can't want anything. "Wanting" is an anthropomorphisation - it is a property of humans projected onto God. So is the idea that there is such a thing as a "day" for God. "Day" already ceases to very mean much even if you are an astronaut in orbit.

Wanting to be worshipped is something humans desire in order to prove to themselves and to others that they are powerful and influential. If you are already omnipotent, then you have no need of such things.
