I had ementioned in a previous threda about how our government deported a Canadian citizen in transit to Canada. Which I think is kind of wierd , here is the amnesty story about his realease
Arar deportation and torture in Syria (http://web.amnesty.org/library/Index/ENGAMR511392003)
What is really wird about it is the story that he told to the CBC radio on As it Happens.
He says that he had been given work clearnce to come to the USA and work on a number of occasions since the 9-11 bombing. And so he feels that he was detained and deported at the intruction of the Canadian government.
This raise disturbing questions:
1. Why would we illegaly detain a foriegn citizen of a friendly country and not offer them the oppotunity to contact the consul?
2. Did our government turn him over at Canada's request?
3. Why would our nation want someone tortured by Syria and then released?
