The NH House and Senate have both passed HB436, which will give gay people the right to marry in NH. Governor John Lynch has voiced his opposition to the bill, but many people think he might let it become law without his signature rather than veto it. Right now, there is a petition drive to collect thousands of signatures urging him to either sign the bill into law or to let it become law without his signature. Because it is extremely unlikely that a veto can be overridden (the bill passed the House 188-187 and the Senate 13-11), it is important to show Governor Lynch that many people support this bill and that it should become law.
Regardless of where you live, if you support gay marriage rights, please go to http://www.nhftm.org/action/petition.html and sign the online petition. Please also go to http://www.governor.nh.gov/contactus.htm and phone, fax or email Governor Lynch to show your support.
Also, it would be nice if you could go to https://secure.ga4.org/01/nhftm_support and make a donation to help support the effort. Mrs. Shemp and I are longtime friends of NHFTM Director Mo Baxley. She is the sole paid employee of NHFTM, but due to lack of funds she hasn't been paid in several months! Also, Mrs. Shemp is a volunteer for NHFTM, and she says that if we don't get Mo paid soon she'll have to sleep in our barn!
