Hey guys, Rand Fan Jr. here, haven't been to the forums in a few years, I'm 21 now, well the 26th of May I will be. Any way, to my point, have any of you read the book "Becoming God" by Ford? If not I recommend it, it's a real fun read. Yes it is a self help book in ways, and it's got some hocus pocus in it; but like I said, a fun read. Ford himself is an atheist and explains some scientific ideas in an easy to understand way. (quantum physics, multiverse, chaos and string theories, etc.) You do have to suspend your disbelief a lot of the time while reading it, and wonder if this guy is a nut, but it’s enjoyable. What I like about it is that it makes you think. Isn’t that the most important thing a book can do?
Well any way, if you’ve read it, let me know what you think of it. If you haven’t go to the site http://www.becominggod.org/ and see if you’d be interested at all. I'd like to hear the input from the community my dad associates with.
Thanx guys

Just going through the website is evidence enough he is a New Age quack.
I can't believe he is actually praising the nonsense in "The Secret" and "What the bleep do we know?". He then goes about making up pseudo-psychological nonsense of "awareness". Everything in his website has warning bells going off.
I may read it in a bookstore and see what it says but I'm not about to pay for it.

Sure, sure.
From the site:
For the first time we understand that the world is not at all what it seems, that reality itself is an illusion, just a manifestation of our imagination. We are living in a dream. This realization calls for us to re-examine the purpose of our lives and gives us new insight to the awesome power each one of us has over our destiny. We have the power through our thoughts to manifest any reality we wish and with that any life or destiny we desire. We have discovered that we are the reality around us, that we are merely the sum of our experiences. We have discovered that we are God.
Ah. Yes, the old "Wishing Will Make it So". Come back when you can flap your arms and fly.

Solipsism 101. It's astounding to me that people really believe that reality only exists in their imagination.

But it's all about the quantum and the science.

I believe Our Ford is properly referred to as "Freud" when discussing psychological matters.

Congratulations! If you had only waited one more day to be born, you would have one of the coolest birthdays possible (so says someone 1 day and 21 years older than you).

While I do agree with the others who have pointed out the problems with the site and its claims, I also agree with you that the book is entertaining. If you are looking for a fun read and do not take much of the "self-help" part seriously, it is very entertaining. However, the Quantum Mechanics described is a bit, um, fictional.
