Hey, Gang - I'm just throwing this out there - I know it's difficult with the economy the way it is, but I thought I'd try.

Beeg Seestor, Janie, is Robert's sister in Tennessee. She is, and always has been, one of Robert's biggest supporters. She would like to be there to witness Robert's come-back to JREF, but really can't afford it. I'm looking for help with air fare from Knoxville, TN and two nights at the hotel.

Can anyone help?

3 nights, right?

I can kick in. How shall we go about this? Hutch has a lot of experience organizing these secret cabal things.

I presume she is planning to register for TAM7, in which case she needs the registration fee, too. If anyone wants to earmark a donation to the scholarship fund for Janie, please let me know via PM and then make the donation in the usual way.

RSLBH, let me know if she needs a scholarship and I'll start with $100.

Fan-freaking-tastic! Wow! This is so overwhelming! I called Janie and she is absolutely floored! Yes to the scholarship! Thanks, Paul!

Please contact Hutch, who is coordinating everything else. I love JREF Forumites!

(Ok, just imagine that there is some little smiley doing some kinda dance - I'm too tired to go look for one.)

Janie's going to Ta-AM! Janie's going to Ta-AM! Yipee!

Okay folks, if you want to make a donation for Janie's registration scholarship, follow the usual directions:

http://www.randi.org/site/index.php/component/content/article/37-static/454-tam-7-scholarship-info.html

and then PM me with the amount that you donated. Once we've earmarked $425 for her registration, I'll award it and let everyone know. I've just donated $100.

RSLBH: Janie isn't a JREF member by any chance?

I don't believe Janie is a member of JREF, but she is a member of the forum. She follows my updates and sometimes chimes in with something. She goes by "Beeg Seestor." Robert nick-named her that when he was young. Being the baby of the family, both his sisters are his big sisters, and his brother is his big brother, but I guess because Janie is the first-born, she gets a title.

Maybe we could have Linda waive the membership requirement in this case?

Man, I love this place. I've never seen scholarship donations made this fast. We have a full scholarship for Janie!

If you would like to contribute, talk to Hutch. He will take contributions for air fare and hotel.

Great on the scholarship, done before I could even contribute.

OK, I talked to Janie this afternoon and it sounds like she has a roommate for at least 2-3 nights. Airfare looks to be about $325-$375 and a certain poster has already kicked in most of that, and I'll take the rest.

Will PM everyone, if you gave to Paul you're off my hook, but she might need a room for a night or two. Think that is doable.

Kochanski has an extra bed for Janie for Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, I believe. Wow! You all are just fantastic! This will mean a lot to Janie, and even more to Robert! And hey - I'm pretty jazzed, too!

Whoopie!

Janie's going to Ta-AM! Janie's going to Ta-AM!

Imagine what we could do if we took on world hunger.

Oh wait, perhaps that can't be solved by mere application of money.

I'm glad we could help, RSL'sBH.

Just one more reason why the JREF community are the most awesome people in the world.

Alas, I also can't contribute financially, But I can contribute 1 (one) Elvis Banana:

Or is it a Banana Elvis? I can never tell.

I am just amazed at JREFer's. I don't think I have ever seen a group of people like you. I had received approval to be there on Friday when Robert is introduced without having to pay a fee and I was thrilled about that. But the more I looked in to it the more obvious it became that I would not be able to go.

Then Susan says a few words and in barely a day, everything is in place for me to attend the whole weekend!!! See, JREFer's can perform magic! ;) I am so excited that I will be there with Susan and will get to meet as many of you as I possibly can! But most of all, I am so grateful for the time I can be with Robert, in his element, surrounded by his JREF family. It is too bad Jim and Trish can't be there as well but they have prior commitments.

Please know that I appreciate this more than a simple post can say.

Hugs to everyone of you!
Janie

Oh geez, now we find out you are an axe-murdering psychopath. Come on, you can forgive your parents for locking you in a room for 14 years.

Just use checked luggage. They don't even blink at swords!

Just be ready with some story about a lumberjack convention, or something.

No Just use a plastic or wood axe. As far as I know these materials are not detected by X rays.
