Yawn. Videos are boring. Especially when it swims so slow. What is it? Other than "all-things-that-are-too-far-away-in-the-water-to-identify-are-champ"

1. Tree trunk/branch borne aloft by currents (note the object is moving in the same direction as the water).
2. Willful hoaxing.
ETA: 3. An as-yet uncatalogued reptile, fish or reptile-fish living mostly undetected in the frequented waters of a NA lake.

If you've been there, especially this time of year... hello?
At least Loch Ness has some kinda remote parts. (well not really, after all when I drove by Loch Ness my car passengers spent the entire time looking guess where...)

It does not show any undulating motion that would rule out a branch. Most likely is a log.

Hard to tell exactly, because the video quality is so poor. But from here, it looks exactly like an otter, which are very common in Champlain. (Hint: the lake's main tributary is named -- wait for it -- "Otter Creek.") I photographed one in my pond last year, and it looked very much like what's shown in the video, only a lot livelier.

Otter? I thought so too but it's hard to tell scale. Otters can be pretty large though.
It swims like a dog. I expect my lake monsters to be more acrobatic and fast.

I doubt it is an animate object. There is no consistency in undulation or other motion, but there is bobbing up and down, which logs do display.

I was listening to George on C2C describing the video and what could be seen in it and my first thought from the description was - otter.

I had an excellent animal encounter today and a good lesson in deductive reasoning. I was on at the beach today on a fantastic blazing summer day (which I was laughing at when people thought it was hot keeping in mind my regular Tokyo summer experience). I was looking at this beautiful deep blue crystal clear seawater at a boat landing when suddenly out of the blue this sea otter runs out of a drainage pipe right in front of me and runs for the water in that ridiculous way that otters run.
It plopped into the water and a moment later surfaced about 10 feet away from a seal that suddenly surfaced. The two of them just stayed there for a moment looking at each other like "what's up?" and then both went on their ways. I was watching the both of them for a few minutes after until they disappeared and was trying to understand what the heck that was all about. I get on the phone with an old friend who's sharp as a knife and told him the story. He laughs and says "Cool! They must have seen the same thing in the water and went for it." I paused for a moment and then admonished myself to him for not having thought of it at the time.
