Looking for info about conspiracies

Hi!

I've seen it mentioned that as N (the number of people involved in a conspiracy) goes up, the likelyhood of its exposure also goes up. Was that a formalized theory, or just a common sense argument?

I'm having a hard time finding this, since searches for the word "conspiracy" turn up a lot of garbage. :)
