View Full Version : Sage advise about Atheists?

I found this link while cruising the fundies boards. There is a cartoon about 1/2 way down the page that gives advise to children about what they should do if they encounter an atheist.
I thought it very amusing (and I would like to say that I am seldom sad...)
Thanks

Any thoughts from anyone else?

Lambuel is a lamb who is devoted to God and knows that Jesus loves him a whole bunch!

"Jesus wants us to be hot for him"? Sounds like pedophilia to me.
And stay away from those mean atheists, kiddies. They're grumpy and full of scary ideas that might make you think. Whatever you do, don't think! Thinking is a satanic trick that will lead you directly to hell! Never think! That's for Jesus and your pastor to do.

I also read the cartoon about the "Professor" giving hilareous answers to some basic evolution (and other) questions RAFLMAO!

The site is a spoof, its nothing but very funny and low-key satire, its not real...
(I dont think you'll ever have such a good laugh until you've seen the very real fanmail and hatemail that site has generated...)

The professor is simply full of misinformation that isn't even biblically consistant.
T-Rex was a herbavore? WTF? While T-Rex may have been a scavenger, this explanation makes no sense. Why not just say T-Rex wasn't on the ark so it's extinct? At least that theory provides some sort of explanation.
Ah, the old "fossils are from the Flood" hypothesis. This theory is just based on the fact that carbon dating isn't entirely accurate. There's no evidence to indicate that it takes 4,000 years to form a fossil, nor is there any evidence that all fossils are from THE biblical flood and not other floods that occurred earlier or later. It also does not account for icthyoid fossils, since they say fish did not get buried in the flood. Without an effective means of dating the fossils, Creationists can't prove how old the fossils are. Instead they have an even less accurate system known as faith in whover told them the theory was true.
LMAO! Adam had no navel! Well, that's just fine with me. So, professor, how many angels can sit on the head of a pin?
Flood-cloud-related rickets! That's just great. WTF is that supposed to mean? Neanderthals don't look like rickets victims, and they're neither our ancestors nor monkey men anyway.
Awww, God gave the stinkbug defenses against athiests instead of predators. Evidence that supports one theory can always be used to support another, even if it's supported by people who are for some strange reason opposed to the first.

If you had checked the FAQ (which you may access via the link in my sig line) you'd find that the forum is pretty much of the consensus that The Objective website is a parody.

As he tells it, while out at a local supermarket shopping for food for his cat, Dr. Franklin noticed one of those small tents advertising "Free Rock Chip Repair" that have been springing up in our nation's parking lots. Curious, he went to enquire about getting a ding in his windshield sealed, only to learn that the person manning the tent had other intentions, namely to try and recruit Dr. Franklin into a cult!
Never mind, anything that says that must be a joke.

I understand that this may be the consensus opinion, but how can you tell? I followed some links and it seemed like it was actively supporting xians and was being used as a resource. I know that the site has several laughable items, but does that make it a parody site if the people who run it truly believe that nonsense. How is that different than other paranormal/UFO-type web-site that are out there where the crazy people believe what they say?

Again, and I'm not trying to be a d*** about this, but this is a well worn subject for this forum. In the FAQ I've detailed why the consensus is that it's a parody. I'll go ahead an post to you the seacrhes and links as to why we think so from the FAQ. If any of them don't work, then please, check the entry for the FAQ.
Q. Is Objective Ministries/Creation Science Fair Real?
http://objective.jesussave.us/creationsciencefair.html
JamesM provides us with an answer:
A: No-one knows for sure, but the consensus is no. If at this point you are tempted to say something like "Well it looks real to me! That's exactly what those fundies would come up with! Show me proof it's a joke!", have you read all the site yet? If not, I strongly suggest you go and read a bit more of it. If you can't be bothered or still aren't sure, here are some reasons why it's probably a hoax.
Yours truly came up with the following points:
quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- The last time I checked, only about two of the email addresses for the various authors were real. I established this by sending emails to them.
- Try googling for any of the people or the other churches/organisations they purport to represent. If you find anything that isn't a link back to the site, you're a better googler than I. One had an email address that was hosted by a genuine church in Texas, but was not a member of staff of that church (which I checked by looking at the host webpage), and the address had the wrong format. Shortly after I made this observation, the email address changed to one at a Christian webmail address. I suspect that was just coincidence, though.
- This site was originally hosted on a Christian webserver (trueministeries, or something like that - they appeared to be genuine when I did some snooping about their pages), which made some think that this was kosher (yeah, cheers). The site was then unceremoniously booted and ended up on Tripod - I suspect the original hosts realised they had been duped (or perhaps the site got too many hits?). I see it now has a better home.
- Giving the anti-evolution guy the surname 'Paley' is a little too good to be true, don't you think?
- Among the many genuine (and equally kitschy) Christian sites that the banner ads link to at the bottom of the page was something that turned out to be a porn site!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And Unrepentant Sinner weighed in with some more:

The only conclusive evidence you need that the site is a spoof, is that the Rock band.. ZOUNDS (http://objective.jesussave.us/zounds.html)
.... has no CD's to sell, even though they tout two that they have made...
Note: The would-be link that declares " MP3s and Videos " says " ( coming soon )
Any musician will know what I am talking about..
I do like their ' Abstinent ' boxers though, which you can actually buy...
http://prodtn.cafepress.com/6/2016596_F_tn.jpg
These boxer shorts feature the Zounds Youth Rock Ministry logo with the inspirational words "Radically Abstinent, Saved & Saving it!" A great way to show the youths that abstinence is "where it's at".

Parody sites are best when people take them for the real thing.
I'm waiting for the precious moment when someone tries quoting the website to prove a point they were trying to make.

Has anyone ever cited landover baptist as supporting evidence?
That'd be funny.

"Hopsiah the Kanga-Jew "
I haven't laughed out loud at the computer screen in ages but this did it for me.
The guestbook is full of righteous indignation from all sorts. I especially liked the drop down choices for your religion:
Catholic/Idolaters
Hindoo/Hoodoo
Macintosh/Eunuch
Evolutionist/Animist
I agree with DarkPrimus. This is funny because it's hard to tell the stuff they made up from the stuff other people made up.

The EAC (Evil Atheist Conspiracy) has an underground network of fossil producing factories around the world, it really tickles my funnybone the way so many people think scientists dont believe in God. Scientists are actually evil people who know God exists but reject him, they want to DECIEVE you into thinking there is no God because the scientists are under the influence of demons and are puppets doing the biddings of Satan (some scientists are actually fallen angels in disguise). The EAC does its work well and does its work fast

It's always a conspiracy to believe what you cannot prove is true.

Everything Unrepentant Sinner said plus, for me, the clincher on their "mall mission" (http://objective.jesussave.us/mallmission.html) page. (Picture of Santa Claus, 1/3 of the way down- look familiar?)
