Who's going to the SGU dinner?

So in case you haven't heard, the SGU is having a private dinner at TAM this year that you must register for. Apparently, at the last couple of TAMs, so many people showed up for the SGU dinner, there wasn't enough room in the restaurant. So here's the info:

Dinner and cash bar
$55.00 per person
We have a cap of 225 people, so we are encouraging people to pay and register ahead of time.

Knowing Rebecca, I'd go with "cashmancy".


ETA: Depending on how you read that word, I see it could either be "cash-mancy" or "cas-shmancy". Be assured I meant whichever one doesn't piss you off.

I might be the only non-rogue to attend both previous SGU TAM dinners, so I have to extend that record. I wouldn't miss it.

I'm going. SGU helped change my life, and I can't wait to meet them all. I wish I could bring my wife, but my purpose in life isn't necessarily hers, although I am glad to say she supports me (not to me mention this ain't cheap), but alas, I will be alone, in a hotel/casino, with no supervision, and all kinds of new people who think like I do around me...Oh wait, that actually sounds pretty awesome...Woohoo!

PS: If any of you subscribe to Freethought Today, the FFRF (Freedom From Religion Foundation) newspaper, you might have seen my picture in the April 2009 issue. The white Ford Escort with the license plate SECULAR, and many bumper stickers. I'm the guy standing next to it. I'm pretty proud of that, I must admit. ;)

Also, (I am not plugging anyone, though it may seem that way), you can order 'Bible Warning" stickers from FFRF. I like to stick them in hotel/motel bibles wherever I go. I don't travel all that much, but every little bit...

Hmm, they may not respond during the weekend. I emailed the previous Friday and got my response on the following Monday.

Why would you pay before you know there is a dinner space for you?

According to the SGU Dinner website: http://www.theskepticsguide.org/sgublog/?p=754 The three steps are:

1. Register
2. Pay
3. Confirmation Sent

It isn't clear on the website if they allow:

1. Register
2. Confirmation Sent
3. Pay

Yeah, but they accept checks up to July 1st, so I wouldn't think they'd wait until July 2nd to give you a confirmation. ANyway, it's been over a week since my 1st e-mail, so I guess I'll send another.

They were flexible with me (my paypal account is locked, and I've been on an extended trip that has made it impossible to meet Paypal's requirements to unlock my account). I'm sure they'll be flexible as long as there's still room.
