Story (http://www.daytondailynews.com/localnews/content/localnews/daily/1202bodies.html) Someone broke into a mausoleum, opened a casket and stole the head from a corpse at Preble Memory Gardens east of Eaton on U.S. 35.

A backhoe driver preparing for a funeral made the discovery Sunday morning. The casket had been removed sometime Saturday night or early Sunday, said cemetery director Dan Appenzeller.

The dead man's head has not been found.Yet another reason to be cremated.

We had a similar story around here, though I don't have a link. A few years ago someone dug up a few graves in one of our older (19th century) cemetaries. The graverobbers turned out to be a couple of drug addicts who thought that they could make some drug money selling the skulls to people for Satanic rituals.

What made it even wierder (for me) was that I saw names and pictures of the drug addicts in question in the paper and one of them was a girl I went to school with, she was the last person I would have thought would become a grave robbing drug addict. She was one of those little miss perfect churchgoing types.

Someone probably got it for their children. After all, the dream of every parent is for their children to get a head.

Any suspects yet? Will the perpetrators have to face the music?

That's going to prove difficult. They have a two day head start.

Better call the head detective to solve this one.

It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out what they had in mind for that head.

The lead Gay necrophile drug addict, as described by our own JREF god

Ed said that the head head was probably looking for some dead head.

Dog Recovers Head! (http://www.daytondailynews.com/localnews/content/localnews/daily/1212skull.html)EATON -- A dog did what Preble County investigators couldn't after a week of searching. It found a human skull, likely the one stolen from a crypt in Preble Memory Gardens.

Sidney, a black labrador, picked up a human skull along Twin Creek and carried it home Wednesday afternoon, Larry Thomas, her owner, said Thursday.

[...]

David Lindloff, investigator for the Preble County prosecutor and coroner, said he's 90 percent sure the head matches the body dismembered during the vandalism, but forensic tests are being performed for confirmation by the Montgomery County Coroner's Office.

I guess he had a bone to pick with his owner.
