Since we seem to be going down memory lane lately, remember him?

I really like that conspiracy theory, and applaud the guy who was behind it. (Has he been identified ? I remember reading something about a writer on the West Coast.)
It was creative and entertaining to read, while most conspiracies surrounding UFO, NWO,etc get boring fast and are the same anecdotes rehashed over and over.

Here here! Anyone got any more details on this?

Whats most fascinating is that the woo internet community so desperately wanted to believe in him, and all these years later I think mostly they still do. Even though it was an obvious hoax.
It just again shows that, when it comes to the woo community, as long as it fits with what they want to Believe...they will without question.

I can only offer Wikipedia as a starting point: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Titor

There was a thread at ATS that allegedly ID members of the Anomalies network forum as "John Titor". That thread was discussed at the Anomalies network forum in this thread.

I cannot find the ATS thread at this moment.

That Titor silliness has nothing on the Montauk Project. I had a thread about it, which was lost unfortunately in one of the database crashes here; but if you go ahead and do some Googling, you'll find out about it. Don't worry, here's a short summary:
...okay, who am I kidding? With Montauk, there's no such thing as a short summary. It's like the grand unified field theory of woo, and it involves mind control, psychic energy, time travel, a huge underground research complex, a really cool big radar dish, a rampaging monster destroying portions of the base after an experiment gone awry (Halo's got nothing on Montauk, either), more time travel, a disastrous quantum-tunnel link with the Philadelphia Experiment, kidnapping of thousands of young boys (some programmed and released to simply go crazy when "activated" at some point in the future, some sent through time portals as experimental subjects), earth/ley lines, yet more time travel, special ops squads going to Mars and Jesus-era Judea, reptilian aliens (you saw that one coming, didn't you?), and a big war that half of the U.S. Air Force is fighting against the other half of itself, between "loyal-to-aliens" and "loyal to the Republic" factions, that is going on even as we speak, with occasional violent battles being fought in the underground base that still operates beneath the former Montauk Air Station, which is now Montauk Point State Park (open to the public) on the extreme eastern tip of Long Island, New York.
Trust me, it's an awesome read. As entertainment goes, it'll hold your interest longer than typical NWO/alien fare like the horribly unoriginal "Dulce Base" silliness.

He's 1/3rd of the way there by now.

I just found out about this fellow. I kinda Liked him. He didn't try to rip people off; or put them in touch with the dead.....
It was just a happy little Phantasy.
I came over here to bring him to y'all's attention; and like several other times, I find that you were way ahead of me.
.....
What is the deal on the Patent though? I can look up Titor's supposed Time machine, on the same "FreePatentsonline" site that I use to look up old, and not so old Firearms Mechanisms.

Is the Patent Office Granting Patents for Woo nowadays?

Well, yes, occasionally, I've done presentations on that, actually, but in this case, no. That's a published patent application, not a granted patent.
You can go to this site:
http://portal.uspto.gov/external/portal/pair
And enter that number as a "publication number" (last option in the list), and see the current status as "Abandoned -- Failure to Respond to an Office Action". You can also download copies of all the prosecution there as well, if you're interested (click on the "Image File Wrapper" tab, look for things like "Non-final rejection", "Final Rejection", and "Applicant's arguments/remarks made in an amendment").
Be warned though, that last one is 355 pages long.....:boxedin:

I've been partial to the John Titor story with it's injection into the Steins;Gate (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steins;Gate) anime. Why the hell is it only after I hear about John Titor the first time through a japanese show and all of a sudden I'm seeing it pop up now? :P

Really, dude, you're just going to hang a straight line like that out there? Really?
Well,
It's all a conspiracy, man!
You have no one to blame but yourself.

I was half joking... I did only hear about this one recently, though I know this came up a decade ago after reading a little about it. Bizarre but I really don't know much about what to think of it. The technology for time travel if it's ever going to exist, isn't here now, and I don't see it even being possible as soon as within the next 30 years (the time frame Titor supposedly claimed to be from). It's a tantalizing topic though... even if the entire concept is fiction at the get go.
