Medvedev Shows Off Sample Coin of New ‘World Currency’ at G-8
By Lyubov Pronina
July 10 (Bloomberg) -- Russian President Dmitry Medvedev illustrated his call for a supranational currency to replace the dollar by pulling from his pocket a sample coin of a “united future world currency.”
“Here it is,” Medvedev told reporters today in L’Aquila, Italy, after a summit of the Group of Eight nations. “You can see it and touch it.”
The coin, which bears the words “unity in diversity,” was minted in Belgium and presented to the heads of G-8 delegations, Medvedev said.
The question of a supranational currency “concerns everyone now, even the mints,” Medvedev said. The test coin “means they’re getting ready. I think it’s a good sign that we understand how interdependent we are.”
Medvedev has repeatedly called for creating a mix of regional reserve currencies as part of the drive to address the global financial crisis, while questioning the U.S. dollar’s future as a global reserve currency. Russia’s proposals for the G-20 meeting in London in April included the creation of a supranational currency.

Maybe Medvedev should do something about fixing the absolute mess that is the Russian Economy before promoting schems to fix the world economy.
Somehow I don't think anybody is going to be taking him seriously on this.

Well, the reason they find a world currency disturbing is that it implies a bank of the world (which has been proposed) which through it's control over the world's finances could control the world.
Also a world-government, or an entity that has control of the world does have problems

It actually has "United Future World Currency" printed on it? That's terrible.
I wonder what a unit of this currency is going to be called. We got Euros, we got Ameros...about about Worldos? Hmmm, nah - sounds like an amusement park ride.
Wait, I got it - we can called them "Credits"! That's something both Trek and Wars fans would be happy with.

I think completely eliminating the economy as a national government issue is a pretty thorough fix, if you ask me. It's a solution that guarantees the issue will never have to be addressed by the Russian government again. I mean, it's kind of cheating...but not really.

How about "Waldos"? Then, when you can't find your wallet, you can say, "Where's my Waldos?", and your kids will be conditioned into obsessively looking until they find them....

Quite sufficient reason to not call them that, then. ;)

Perhaps the new global currency won't be a notes and coins currency at all?

As a side-question: What would happen if the majority of the G8 would vote for a global currency? Or don't they have any say regarding those issues?

Couldn't we put Randi's face on the new coin? I think that would be appropriate, since he's the founder of JREF, and hence, the NWO.

Its the logical next step. Although local governments may wish to retain the ability to vary interest rates, etc to moderate their own regional economies. In general a world standard currency is a good idea. However I suspect a large number of countries wouldn't agree and there for it will probably not occur for a generation or so.

I love how the NWO CTers are still freaking out over this.
It just couldn't be that the Russian political establishment was seeking to make a political statement through creating a currency that they have no intentions of ever really backing, just creating a pretty coin.
No, IT MUST BE THAT THE NWO IS ON THE WAY ZOMG ZOMG ZOMG.

They only have authority over their own countries so they would have to convince the rest of the world first.
