As a side project, I have tried to make some ghost pictures.

Let me know what you think.

These shots were all done in camera, no digital manipualtion, at f/11 with shutter speeds from 1 to 30 seconds. Flash was used on some of them. I used Fuji 200 ISO 35mm film in a Canon with a 50mm f/1.8 lens.

Bonus points for anyone who can tell how they were done.

There will be more to come.

aaahhh! There's a face in number 2! It's an evil face! Give me our precious! ....oh, wait...slipped into Lord of the Rings mode that last bit... ;)

Number one looks like you tossed snow into the air. Number two looks like cigarette smoke.

Good job.

Some tin foil, a frisbee, and 10 minutes later and we'll have some genuine UFOs...

#2. You shook the tree at the top of the shot and the snow fell while you snapped the picture.

#3. Looks like the cherry of a cigarette taken without the flash.

#4. Looks like cigarette smoke.

I can't figure out what's supposed to be ghostly in #1.

Close?

That is why #1 one is the scariest one... There is surely a ghost there but where... Boooohhahahahaha :)

I was assuming that pics 1 and 3 were reference shots without the "ghost" to establish the setting.

No, numbers one and three Ileft the shutter open, walked into the frame and painted my face with a flashlight. I did move around a bit.

The other two are my breath.

Ahhh! You're breath is evil! It makes evil faces! Repent repent etc.

Nice. A little more practice and you'll have a following of believers.

For #1, it looks like you used a flash along with the long, dark exposure where you addedyour face. Did you double expose, or are you able to flash during a bulb exposure?

(I have a Canon 50mm f/1.8. It's great for night shooting.)

Now I see the face. Didn't look close enough before.

The other two are my breath. Ah, I see. This is a cool effect. Maybe it would work better to not move your face at all while it's in the flashlight. Can't wait to see more.

Do some UFO ones too.

Are you trying to tell us that you are a ghost? I am getting confused... :D
