Right now, Medicare, which gives health insurance to all Americans over age 65 and some other folks, has severe money problems because the number of beneficiaries is going up with healthcare costs, while the number of folks paying Medicare insurance remains the same.

So, why not just make Medicare part of Obama's new healthcare plan?

Open up Medicare to persons of any age. Let employers contribute money for their employees to Medicare.

Assuming the monthly contributions for employees will be much lower then for private insurers, since Medicare is not-for-profit, employers will save money, the Medicare funding will increase and be more solvent, and we won't have to create a whole new government health care plan.

Oh...but wait....I forgot: Medicare is Socialism!!!! Arrgghh!!!

This is one of the benefits of Obama-care. It will take the medicare cost out of the Social Security trust fund, and move the cost to the 'universal health care trust fund'. There by 'saving' a gazillion dollars and extending the life of SS.
