View Full Version : Truth Killers: The 4 biggest jackasses in the truth movement.

The 9/11 Truth movement has its share of morons. Some leaders are less hapless than others, so which ones are the worst? I've compiled a short list of the worst truthers ever to pollute cyberspace--truthers so stupid they make Kirk Cameron facepalm.

Jason Bermas The Mr. Smithers of the Truth Movement, Bermas is a loyal servant to Dylan Avery. No one is more of a stereotype in the truth movement than this closet case. Doesn't know when to STFU like his friend. Bermas made a complete idiot out of himself on Democracy Now! when Avery had to calm him down by touching his shoulder, which was quite possibly the most akward moment since Rocky's and Apollo Creed's man hug on a beach in Rocky III. Only in the truth movement can Dylan Avery be the alpha male in the group.

He said it: "I'm not calling anyone a liar. I'm calling you a liar, sir."

David Ray Griffin He's a lot like the old sage in a kung-fu movie, except he's not Asian or smart. Easily the most hapless of the truth "leaders", Griffin doesn't have the most rudimentary understanding of the subjects he tries to lecture on. A theologian who took on a team of scientists, Griffin dedicated a large portion of his book critiquing the NIST report even though there is no evidence he even read the NIST report. Leave the science stuff to actual scientists, Dave. If we want to learn how to appease a Jewish zombie, we'll call you.

He said it: "NIST [cannot explain] why the towers fell faster than free fall speed through the air."

Craig Ranke The premise of his "theory" is like a cross between an airshow and a MindFreak episode. No one in the history of the Internet is as proud of making such terrible movies as this Lego Man abortion. In 2006, Ranke decided the Truth movement was worthwhile enterprise and joined with his sidekick to make the worst 9/11 conspiracy theory movie in history--quite a feat considering the competition. Calls his "organization" "CIT". Says CIT has a "non-violent" approach while his discredited lardass of a friend threatens violence over the Internet. Says he rejects no-plane theories while at the same time insists no plane hit the pentagon. Too bad CIT doesn't drug test.

He said it: "It's circular logic to suggest that strong evidence proving there was a serious deception that took place during this operation of deception is null and void because of the physical evidence which the evidence that contradicts it proves is the deception the first place."

Thierry Meyssan In true French fashion, he ran from the opposition. Meyssan set the tone for the 9/11 truth movement with his book 9/11: the Big Lie. Couldn't even get the simplest facts straight. Called Andrews Airforce Base "Presidential air base of St. Andrews". Anyone who thinks the U.S. Military would name an airforce base after a catholic saint should not be taken seriously. But the truth movement took no notice. Meyssan's book became a best-seller and the most bizarre counterculture in history was formed.

He said it: "We also know that these anti-aircraft defenses include five batteries of missiles installed on top of the Pentagon and fighters at the Presidential airbase of Saint Andrews."

In YouTube speak; comment, rate, share. Which ones would you rate as the worst and why?

Bermas was very cordial with me, so I'm not going to bash him. I don't know how close he is with Dylan these days; he's working for Alex Jones, not Avery, and there seems to be some bad blood between Alex and Dylan.

So I'd put Alex in Bermas' place, and Richard Gage over Meyssan, who's somewhat passe. Ranke and Griffin are spot on.

Gage is just a carbon copy of Griffin, so I scratched him--despite the cardboard box charade.

It's painful to artificially limit the Jackass count to only 4....

Please consider adding Jim Fetzer and Judy Wood. And of course Ace Baker.

Agreed. However, the limitation does act as a filter.

Please consider adding Jim Fetzer and Judy Wood. And of course Ace Baker.I don't know, their 30 seconds of fame fizzled out a long time ago.

I was going to nominate Bobbie Balsamo, but in hindsight he has also been left in the dumpster, relegated to blatant milking of his flock through auto-renewing "Chip In" applets which scrape in enough money to keep his Bud Lite supply limping along.

Would you hold NIST accountable if they had deliberately altered ground zero photos in order to deceive its readers? Would you hold NIST accountable if they had got the date of 9/11 wrong? Would you question Dr. Sunder's competence if he had written a paper (which he had claimed to be "scientific") about Jesus roaming around in pre-colonial America?

As far as "jackasses" go, here is my ranking,

1. Alex Jones
2. David Ray Griffin
3. James Fetzer
4. Steven Jones

AJ - complete psychopath, mentally ill
DRG - weasel and snake oil salesmen of the nth degree
Fetzer - Loony toons
SJ - ignorant of facts, and morally compromising for the sake of his argument.

There are lots out there who are "stupider", but these are my 4 for "jackass"iness.

2. Cap'n Bob (have you ever been to his forum?)

4. Stephen Jones (the perfect example of why appeal to authority is a logical fallacy)

2. David Ray Griffin
3. James Fetzer

Stealing shamelessly from T.A.M. plus mine.

AJ - complete psychopath, mentally ill
DRG - weasel and snake oil salesmen of the nth degree
Fetzer - Loony toons
SJ - ignorant of facts, and morally compromising for the sake of his argument.

It's funny. At the 2:36 mark, this moron Fetzer is talking about how Mohammed Atta drove up to Portland Oregon, and the rushed back down to Logan to take part in the hijackings. In his smug know-it-all troofer demeanor, he's unaware of the fact that Mohammed Atta was in Portland Maine, not Portland Oregon. But hey, accuracy really isn't that important if you have da troof.

L.

P.S. He definitely deserves a top spot as one of the biggest troofer jackasses there is.

The 9/11 Truth movement has its share of morons. Some leaders are less hapless than others, so which ones are the worst? I've compiled a short list of the worst truthers ever to pollute cyberspace--truthers so stupid they make Kirk Cameron facepalm.

Well, you've got your morons and you've got your jackasses and then you've got your leaders. You make the selection difficult when you force us to combine the three. (I mean as pure jackass, how can anyone beat Killtown? But he's no leader.)

Well, Avery is yesterday's news, so Bermas in his role as sidekick to Avery should be the day before yesterday's news. Now he's playing straight man for Alex Jones, so how could you include Jason without including Chunky Boy?
I'd switch this vote to Alex Jones.

Been a conspiradroid for so long, he deserves a position on the founder's committee, the Irving R. Thalberg award for Lifetime Achievement, plus a spot in the current rankings as he's now working on yet another book to milk the deluded masses enlighten us.
I concur on this choice.

Reprehensible little twerp. If we're emphasising "jackass", Craig tops the list. Mere mortals would've gotten out of the movement out of embarassment after the shellacking the CIT NoC theory has taken, but Craig and Aldo are like our own Energizer bunnies - they just keep coming back for more. There have been so many bite-sized chunks taken out of their butts that surely we're going to hit hip bones soon.
I concur with this choice, too.

Another for the hall of honor/founder's committee. In a world that includes Kevin Barrett and Fetzer and Stephen Jones, he merely deserves a place of honor as one of the earliest to cash in on the lunacy. He hasn't really been that active on the topic since, has he?

I'd replace Meyssan with Stephen Jones. He's still the cause of headaches because he, like DRG, is cited as a bona fide, sciencey type. He's also proved to have staying power.

But I think a fifth slot has to go to Richard Gage. He's elevated himself, through sheer force of will, into the truthy-sciencey guy ranks. He's as full of crap as all the others, but he's a damned pit bull for getting himself some attention.

Barrett, Fetzer, Baker, Wood... They're on the quiet side. I'm sure they're just waiting around for their next smoking bombshell so they can get back into the fleecing debate, but they're not making much noise at present.

So my five would be (in no particular order)

Alex Jones - criminally stupid, possibly genuinely evil, definitely crazy
DRG - professional conspiradroid, will be in it for the long haul, and they love trotting out that title, "Doctor Griffin said...."
Craig Ranke - again, taking the whole criteria, he's the biggest jackass in the leading lights, so belongs here.
Stephen Jones - dishonesty cloaking itself in scholar's robes
Richard Gage - has proven that even if his errors are pointed out he will leave them in his presentation because they sell more cookies that way, another faux science guy - a low level draftsman/architecht who pretends he has more knowledge and experience than he really does.

T.A.M.
11th August 2009, 05:03 AM
Yah I agree, if we are talking about present day, active truther jackasses, I would not include Fetzer, but if we are going for all timers he is in there.

Why four? Why not 7.5 and have some fun with the remaining slots? Nico Haupt or Killtown might qualify and have some interesting claims to include. I also can't see having Bermas but not AJ. AJ's gotta be on there, and I'd vote no LTW kids - Avery, Bermas or Rowe. The video is a mammoth turd of the TM but the guys themselves just don't stand out. They're just limp noodles and should to be ignored.

1 David Ray Griffin - original reasons perfect
2 Alex Jones - reason: picture of him in joker makeup, nuf said.
3 Stephen Jones - yadda
4 Richard Gage - yadda
5 Rob Balsamo - you know
6 Craig Ranke - better than Aldo due to the yappy dog effect - stupid is funnier faster and shriller.
7 Jim Fetzer - Logic!
8 Killtown - evrything dumb under the sun
9 Eric Hufschmid - pioneered WTC demo and Pgon theories in Meyssan's day, has the holocaust denial and stuff to boot
10 mystery entry!

Killtown deserves some mention certainly.

So does Seemslikeadream (SLAD) and the others at "'Progressive' Independent." When the DU asked them to please keep the conspiracy stuff in the conspiracy topic board (instead of booting them like KOS did) they had a hissy fit and started their own site, the PI. It's almost as anti-Semitic as Stormfront and as completely loony as Prisonplanet. They ban anybody who doesn't kowtow to SLAD while they whine about censorship on the DU. SLAD and her cronies manage to mix mental-illness with the emotional maturity of a 3 year old in need of a nap.

Whoa, very touch choices. My list for the 9/11 CT jackass quartet must include the following:

Kevin Barrett: For wanting people like me to die (hard to overlook that sweet little detail).

Dylan Avery: Yeah, I know he can sound rational and even respectful on occasion. But I'll never forgive him for strongly implying a father who lost his son that day put the boy on a plane that he knew would crash. FU Avery, now and forevermore.

Willie Rodriguez: For making me feel guilty about so disliking someone who, under normal circumstances, I would otherwise respect.

Killtown: For just being so all-around annoying, for so many reasons and on so many levels. A true Mozart of jackassery.

It would come as no surprise to many that I consider Michael C Ruppert to be the number one jackass in the 'movement':

Slander and defamation of character of decent men including 'Buzzy' Krongard and Gen. Eberhart.
Championing Venezuela as a model society.
Initiation or threats of initiation of legal action against 'truther' rivals.
Inclusion of Brzezinski in his warped fantasies without any evidence of his having read anything by the geopolitical theorist and ex-presidential advisor.
Lionizing fellow con man Delmart Vreeland.
Mobilisation of 'editors' to publicly refute critics.
Invention of fantastic science fiction devices to support unverifiable claims.
Naming Richard Cheney as the prime suspect in the 9/11 attacks.
Implicating the governments of the UK and Israel in the 9/11 attacks.
Promoting baseless accusations against Leo Wanta, including the theft of 'trillions of dollars' from the U.S. Treasury.
I could go on but there is absolutely no redeeming value in the ********* this jackass purveys. By comparison, Alex Jones is a successful entertainer, Steven Jones and David Ray Griffin are deluded mystics, and Fetzer is a JFK conspiracist who just found a new plaything in 9/11 conspiracies.

I would certainly consider Kevin Barrett in the same category as a self-important scumbag who lies habitually and threatens people and doesn't seem to see anything wrong with it...as long as he's the one telling the lies and threatening people.

Personally I think Alex Jones is the biggest nut job in the world. He is far and above the nuttiest of them all. He is a complete moron. Everyone else mentioned in this topic is debateable. But Alex without a doubt is number one on my list. The man should be in a mental hospital.

The one and only. His followers come to my campus and talk about how awesome Kepler is and how Obama is a Nazi.

They're the only crazy people I can go up to and argue. They haaaaate me.

He also is a Truther I believe, though I was surprised when one of his followers said that he didn't think it was an inside job.

You get the Larouchebags at your school too?

That's a step up from what we used to get--the good folks of the "Good News Network"

well the question was "jackasses" and while Alex Jones is both a nut and a jackass, I would like to see you "debate" how DRG, the biggest snake oil salesmen in the TM, is not a #1 jackass?

Go.

Killtown: For just being so all-around annoying, for so many reasons and on so many levels. A true Mozart of jackassery.

LOL, true. :D

I was going to throw in Captain Bob's name into the pot. Except that's he's been preety quite as of late. No threats or harrasing phone calls to anyone. Maybe he found a real job and no longer has the time.

I'm not sure if hilarious fringe of fringe disinfo counts for this survey.

I should have added Christopher Bollyn as a candidate. Heck, it might be easier to figure out a list of whom to exclude.

I would exclude Jim Hoffman (hard researcher, just paranoid), Richard Gage (just regurgitates old debunked bullcrap), and perhaps Dylan Avery / Korey Rowe (just through lack of visibility or input these last few years).

mm hm. I love arguing with people and they're sooo smug its great to show them how crazy they are.

This is how far I've gone--as you know, they hate Newton and love love LOVE Kepler. I made a paper with Kepler's laws written out and then asked a physics problem. All you need to know is f = ma to solve the problem and it has nothing to do with planetary motion. I've gone up to them a few times with it to ask them how they would find the correct answer to the problem using only Kelper's laws.

Back on topic, I could not believe it when I found out that Killtown is in his 30s. That is ridiculous.
