I am NOT making this up!
Why is it when people tell me that, it is inevitably followed up with a link to either Glenn Beck or Wing Nut Daily?
...and it always made up.

For the same reason the when there is "mystery" or "mysterious" in the title of a Discovery Channel show, it's always about something already explained.

Sometimes people on skeptic sites check Snopes.Com (http://www.snopes.com/computer/internet/clunkers.asp) for information before posting stuff on message boards.
Lastly, I mean this in the most inoffensive manner possible, please use more descriptive titles on your JREF threads. There are people who want to discuss this particular issue, but won't open this thread because there is no way to tell want it is about wihtout opening it. If you really want the impact of "I am not making this up!" then include that phrase with a more descriptive phrase.
ETA: missed it by that much.

Why blame Obama for the Cash for Clunkers debacle anyway? It was funded and implemented by Congress.

I am NOT making this up! No, you're not making it up, you're just parroting it. You're not even a liar, you're just passively letting yourself be used as a mouthpiece for other people's lies.
How dumb is that?

As a matter of interest, given the subsequent postings do you now intend to review your OP and admit the error?
I only ask because, looking at the "pain killers" thread, I see you rather vanished.

Er, this isn't proof that "cash for clunkers" is a scam by Obama to get access to your computer.
It is, however, proof that SOMEONE ON A TV SHOW SAID that "cash for clunkers" is a scam by Obama to get access to your computer.
(Besides, wouldn't it be a horribly inefficient way to do so?)

*clutches at hard drives*
He'll have to pry my drives from my cold, dead fingers.
Actually... if it got me a personal meeting with the president, I'll let him have it. Mr. Obama, come take my computer!

That's pretty much what the video proved to me. Glenn Beck is batcrap crazy. I'm not making up what he said.

The law states that the only info they have is the dealerships info (which is rather nececssary for rebates)
Already heard this, already explained it to the person who parroted Beck.

As I read the warning box that old guano-for-brains put up on screen, this condition operates "WHILE YOU ARE LOGGED IN." Does the concept of "logged in" escape some people?
Of course the information is available to law enforcement, for the same reason that, when you phone in an application to buy a firearm, it is available to law enforcement.
If a convicted wife-beater in the middle of a custody dispute is trying to buy a sniper rifle, the system could alert police that they have to come get that fool right away.
If somebody I never dealt with is trying to turn in my vehicle for the credit, I want the cops to know right away who and where he is.
What's the problem?
