I'm sorry but todays headline at Haaretz was too stupid to refuse to share it:

Dozens of rabbis fly over Israel praying to defeat swine flu (http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1106794.html)

*snip* About 50 Jewish holy men chanted prayers and blew shofars (ritual rams' horns) in an aircraft circling over the country in the hope of stopping the spread of the virus, some of those involved in Monday's venture were quoted as saying. *snip*

"The aim of the flight was to stop the pandemic so people will stop dying from it," Rabbi Yitzhak Batzri was quoted as saying in the mass-circulation daily Yedioth Ahronoth. *snip* [Full article (http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1106794.html)]

Let's just hope that none of the Rabbis gets the swine flu at the public airport, it would make them look even more stupid.

Oh, they were in airplanes. Then never mind.

Swine flu certainly isn't Kosher.

Hmm. The Rabbis' flight would certainly make more sense in response to "Swine Flew".

Why would they need to be circling the country in an aircraft? Is it somewhere specified in scripture that prayer has some radius of efficacy? :boggled:

Pah. "Everyone knows" that Mr Flew converted to Christianity on his death bed anyway.

I wonder if it's the virus' porcine moniker that's got them in such a high-flying tizzy. This kind of urgent attention wasn't paid to bird flu.

Didn't I hear that they rode around on pigs and shouted curses at the sky? Or was that in a more rational universe I sometimes drink myself into?

God is getting hard of hearing and he's too vain to wear a hearing aid, so the by getting closer to the firmament he can hear them better.

"We are certain that, thanks to the prayer, the danger is already behind us," added [Rabbi Yitzhak] Batzri.
