A Humble Dowsing Experiment w/ Photos!

I took a little inspiration from Old Bob and decided to learn a little about dowsing. So today after a long day's work I decided to conduct a little experiment in dowsing. Now now, I know many of you feel that dowsing is woo but my results speak for themselves.

For those uninitiated, dowsing is the ability to detect valuable resources remotely through magic... or something. I used a simple plastic coat hanger. Here in Iraq there are few trees to cut and forked stick so I managed to use what I had available.





Here I am dowsing the motor pool for said valuable resources. At first it was slow going but gradually I was able to pin-point a faint "tick" I was receiving. Note the intense concentration on my face. Also note the fantastic hair.

Found the spot! Time to start digging!!! Will it be water? Gold? Iron? IED? UXO? Let's see! Dowsers have claimed to be able to find anything from tumors to tungsten so who knows what we'll find out here in the desert.

Oh... there it is! Just below the surface of the desert!! We've hit some sort of vein!

That is the most desolate motorpool I've ever seen in my life! That vehicle looks so lonely out there. Anyway, the hair is fantastic. Do you have to do it yourself?

Yeah, that is a pretty desolate motor pool. All moon dust too. Knowing some of my NCO's I am surprised we haven't yet been on a sweeping detail yet. Weapons must be cleaned daily. We work out there from about 2:30am to 11am to avoid the heat.

The vehicle is deadlined and thus deserves to sit out there all by itself. The working tanks get to hang out together because they have the good sense not to break.

Hmm... well next I should devise a leather and latex dowsing rod. I think those results would be more befitting to my tastes.

I am thinking of opening a porn mine but I need to keep it quiet lest the Iraqi's get wise and start flexing their mineral rights on my patch. I think I'll park a tank over that spot and covertly mine whatever remaining porn might be there.
