"The Ring" forum/ some real hardcore believers

It seems since the US version of the movie Ring came out, there has been a forum for fans of it. Most of them seem to be fairly young (teens, maybe?). This is really odd, and I can swear by my life that this is 100% true.
(snipped background info) I had a bad night the last night, and when I have had a bad day I tend to get supernatural stuff drawn to me. In any case, I thought about what had been going on, and it got me so sad I almost began to cry. So I looked out the window to try to distract me, and decided to look at the TV. I looked at it for a few seconds, and started to breath heavier, without forcing myself to do it. It was natural. All of a sudden, the TV started to flicker. JUST that one. It flickered on and off, and I could SWEAR I could catch it trying to settle into a picture at one flicker. And after about a minute of doing that with me just oddly staring at it, the bus made a quick stop and I caught my breath and looked around, I was startled, and it didn't happen again.

Now hows THAT for creepy?

I've had fights with people on user groups over The Matrix.
Some of them think we're actually living inside the matrix because thier "skin doesn't feel like its touching air" or thier "breathing is different."
When youre faced with teenagers wanting to be noticed as deep thinkers because they understood the plot of an action movie, its hard to talk some sense into them.
Especially when thier only argument is "You can't prove that we're NOT in The Matrix."

I had no idea that the laws of physics, chemistry, and biology changed dependent on what hemisphere one is in. Western science, then, is flawed, yet self correcting. So Eastern is inherently correct, even though it's also composed of human ideas and hypothesis? Lack of study and all that.... lack of self correction seems to be a difference between the rationalists on Ring and JREF. East and West. :D

Ah, but that Ring forum existed long before the American version came out. That makes it okay.

Its an interesting board, real nice folk, pretty intelligent people.

Its not a big board filled with believers.

I would have considered posting more often there... I'm just not that into "The Ring" (it was a good movie, by the way).


I also made a few posts in the thread What Religion are you? The forum administrator, inteferon (a nice character by the way) and I had an interesting exchange after I said atheism was not a religion (of course, when detailing why atheism is not a religion - special thanks to Stimpson J. Cat for helpful information - I missed the part where that there is no dogma in atheism that stems from the life or teachings of a spiritual figure... oops, my bad).

Let's not oversimplify things here by attempting to judge them according to the Scientific Method. I'm a scientist myself, and firmly believe in the Method, but it is wholly inadequate to prove/disprove matters at this higher meta level. Only philosophical analysis can do that.
