I got an A in ICT, a B in ICT and a C in English in my AS levels.
My coursework is golden, yet my English and IT teachers have been telling me to resit my exams for a better grade.
Is that a good idea?

What do you want to do after your AS levels? Did you take ICT twice?
On the face of it it doesn't seem a great idea, but I am sure if you talked to your teachers for their reasoning they would explain why they think what they do!

Did you go from an A to a B or from a B to an A?
And yes, I think your teachers are probably in the best position to advise you. Whatever you decide to do, I hope it works out.

Resitting exams to go up a grade or too is pretty standard at this point. As long as it is only a couple of exames total not too much of an issue.

I know nothing about the subject, so a question. If you resit the exam will that increase your knowledge of the subject? How? What makes you think you will get a higher grade?

It seems to me that it's more or less standard operational procedure to re-sit AS levels. If you're going on to A2's, you'll be covering the subject material in greater depth in the second year as a matter of course, so it's highly likely that the increased understanding will help you out in the exams. Since all you're really talking about is a few hours' extra work in total, I'm having trouble seeing the downside. Both my older two kids have re-sat AS levels and got improved grades, and it didn't seem to have any negative effects on the rest of their studies or results.

Having just taken A-Levels and gotten into University with them, I would suggest that you retake the AS-Levels. If you resit them and get a lower grade, you'd still keep the higher grade, so there is literally no downside.
The other important thing to note is that the grades at AS-Level are less important then the points. If you got low points in any of the exams, it's well worth retaking them in order to up the points, as those will add up and possibly get you a better grade at A2. Either way, good luck!
