Does anyone know how many death penalties in the US are overturned at appeal?

I think (although I may be wrong) that everyone on death row gets an appeal, by law - I was wondering exactly how much difference this made?

(For use in another discussion on another board, connected with the whole Ian Huntley thing...)

Look at the disposition other than execution column here (http://www.albany.edu/sourcebook/1995/pdf/t675.pdf), but it includes dying while in prison, new trial, appeal, communtation, you get the idea.

Thanks. That'll have to do.
