Muncaster Castle is a fabulous location on the west coast where a lot of research has been done into haunting experiences and so serves as an excellent backdrop for a conference examining the topics of paranormal and anomalous experiences.
Although this is undoubtedly true, the reasoning for choosing a location in Cumbria which is the worst county in the UK for a conference seems to have been omitted

If anyone goes along and sees Jason Braithwaite ask him if he still has that Sherlock Holmes style pipe that he smoked in the Station Hotel in Millom all those years ago.
:D

What is wrong with it as a conference venue?

Northwest england isn't exactly what youd call "central and close to facilities", because in fact its not central and is close to scotland

It is about halfway up the main island I think. Is it not?

It is indeed the worst county. All future conferences should be held in either Norfolk, Cornwall or Ynys Mon.

No. UK-Skeptics are not woos (feel free to justify that - but knowing your debating style, I know you won't) and are fully behind TAM being a huge success. Again, feel free to bring evidence to the table if you think I am wrong and dont de-rail the thread with forum vomit. ;)
There was an issue with there being around 4 or 5 conferences around the same time including TAM, UK-Skeptics, European skeptics (now moved to next year), the SPR conference, and various other ones by regional societies. It was debated amongst a number of organisers from different associations whether there could be a potential for 'saturation' in the future and how this may help / hinder what everyone is trying to do. The consensus was we all need to stay in touch while organising events and try to space things out.
My take on it was that this was a discussion among many groups and organisers and had nothing to do with TAM or anyone else complaining. I could be wrong of course.....

:D nothing, but it will require some people to leave their armchairs....This is often a problem for "Townies"
