this is how it starts folks. insane rumors without a shred of evidence or logic, spread among a bigoted and suspicious population. and once its out, its almost impossible to contain it.

I pray that the few Jews who still live in Algeria will not be beaten or killed due to this new blood libel.

I do recall stories of this sort in Central/South America claiming that People from the US were kidnapping kids down there to steal organs. That was in the late 80's. There was a case on one of the TV news rags detailing one US woman nearly beaten to death because a mob in a small town decided she was there to steal organs and they thought she had a heart in her backpack.

Yes, there is. And the "we shall otherwise disappear" claim might even be true, but it is not the real reason some people object to it. That's, I think, the excuse used to explain an emotional reaction of dislike to the son marrying a shiksa (a slightly derogatory term for a non-Jewish woman).

But I still think Parky has a point here. Disliking other people is human nature, as Tom Lehrer noted in "National Brotherhood Week". Take any tightly-knit community, from the Amish to the Zoroastrians, and you'll find they don't want their sons and daughters to marry a non-[whatever]. But not wanting your son to marry a shiksa is a world away from thinking that shiksas are out to steal the Jews' organs.

(Well, except for that organ, I suppose, if she wants to marry him, but it's only a loan, not a theft...)
