Story (http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5hXROT9qFqSx-wCTCQk3G6qvfAs_wD9AP714G0):
Experts at the world's top atomic watchdog are in agreement that Tehran has the ability to make a nuclear bomb and is on the way to developing a missile system able to carry an atomic warhead, according to a secret report seen by The Associated Press.
The IAEA has been under pressure from the US and several European countries to release their secret report, allegedly being held back for political reasons.

And that's your feel-good story of the day.

Yeah...strangely, we've been told for a while that the evidence that Iran would ever be dangerous was scarce if not nonexistent. Didn't they "suspend" their program?

Turns out our intel can screw up both ways.

Honestly,

I don't know what to believe. The information seems accurate, believable and compelling. I should note, however that seven years ago our government told us Iraq had weapons of mass destruction and they were imminently about to give them to terrorists and our warning sign could be a mushroom cloud. We ended up invading a country and we found out it was a load of nonsense.

What does "having the ability to make a nuclear bomb" exactly mean?

Because that's standard fare for industrialized countries.

The UN atomic watchdog said Thursday it has no concrete proof that there is or has been a nuclear weapons programme in Iran.

Another fantastic piece of journalism by the AP.

What makes you say that? The IAEA believes Iran has a nuclear weapons program. Concrete proof won't be coming unless Iran makes it public. The AP saw the IAEA document (which they have so far refused to release publicly) which states they believe that not only does Iran have a nuclear weapons program, they believe they're capable of building a bomb today.

It's hardly a secret this document exists, the US and France in particular have been pressuring them to release it.

Read the article:

"At the board of governors meeting on September 9, Director General ElBaradei warned that continuing allegations that the IAEA was withholding information on Iran are politically motivated and totally baseless," it said.

And yet the consensus opinion of the experts in the IAEA contends that Iran not only is developing nukes, but already has the capability.

The only thing politically motivated is the witholding of this report.

And? Until there's a seismic disturbance unrelated to any geologic activity or Iran shows their program to the IAEA (unlikely) there won't be any concrete proof.

But when it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck...

eta: this reminds me of the truther talking points that the FBI says it has no concrete proof that Osama bin Laden did the 9/11 attacks.

I personally think that we should just let Israel bomb Iran. That way we don't have to risk our necks to fight Iran.
