1) How do you put a picture under your name to the left?

2) How do you post a smiley right on the page, rather than posting it as an attachment?

3) Why do they call money 'dead presidents', when Benjamin Franklin was never a president?

"There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots" (http://www.despair.com/demotivators/cluelessness.html) :p
(just teasing)
But seriously

The answer to question 1 can be found here (http://www.randi.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9204)

For question 2, just click on any of the smilies in the box on the left of the post reply page. If you click on "get more" you should get a small pop-up window with more smilies to click on.

As to question 3, I can't be sure, but I suspect ignorance of history plays a part.

Dorian Gray,

Do you have a picture in mind that you want to use? Post the URL to the picture and I'll get you all set up.

I got to:
26. Use the right click and “Paste” functions to copy the http address of your avatar to the Avatar address option. Make sure you delete the default "www" address in the box first.

27. Go to any JREF topic where you have posted in the past. You should now see your new avatar under your name!

28. Done

Only it didn't recognize the picture as a GIF file, even though it IS a GIF file. It didn't work.

My pic fits all the specs, and I did everything just as directed.

Sorry, I should have pointed out that the first option listed hasn't been working lately. Right now the only way that works is to upload the pic somehere one the web then use the link created.

I've uploaded you pic to my storage space, you should be able to use that now.

Towards the bottom.I recognize that image. It's from the cover of Richard Bach's book, "The Bridge Across Forever". He's one of my favorite authors. I used to wonder where he came up with some of his wackier stuff, until I discovered he knew Jane Roberts.

One of mine, too, and one of my favorite books. That and 'One' gave me hope for finding a soulmate, knowing what love was, etc. - and then Richard Bach got a divorce. Oh, well, still one of my faves.
