View Full Version : 911CT Debunking Podcast?

The skeptical movement is very well represented in the podcasting medium. I get much of my specific information on various pseudosciences distilled via podcasts. While the conspiracy skeptic, Karl Mamer, does a great job with other conspiracies which are generally less pervasive in the popular culture, he does not do a treatment of 9/11. Is there a topic-specific podcast on debunking 911CT's? If not, has anyone here considered producing such a podcast?

I understand that the Truther movement is likely past its heyday (which I would assess was 2006-2007), but this is the JFK conspiracy of my generation. I will likely come across Truthers on occasion in casual conversation for decades. I also don't think I'm exaggerating by estimating the number of various Truther claims being potentially in the thousands. It seems evident that there is plenty of material to cover even for a weekly podcast (which is typically the pinnacle of such ambitions). My personal opinion is that a podcast that deals with each category of claims in detail (such as Pentagon wreckage claims, Pentagon camera footage claims, etc.) would be very valuable and accessible resource to your everyday, casual debunker.

It would also allow me to avoid getting off my intellectually-lazy bum and actually having to read the various technical documents and white papers on the subject...

No debunking podcasts on 911. I think there are a lot of Truther ones out there. I think you should go and check out Compus's website which is devoted to 911 debates (http://www.ferricadooza.com/911debates/latestdebates.html) and the thread I started where I posted all the debates I can find so far (http://forums.randi.org/showthread.php?t=156181)!

Am I technically spamming?

btw I LOVE the Conspiracy Skeptic. It is such a good podcast. Though I feel the newer ones are wayyyy to long and don't really cover the counter arguments for these CT.

I certainly concur on Conspiracy Skeptic.

The debates are certainly useful as they shine a military wattage spotlight on the Truther mentality and show the typical argument path for this particular pseudoscience, both of which are very important. However, these tend to jump topics and give a relatively scant cross-section of the breadth of their claims.

Generally, I find debaters getting into trouble when they're faced with a claim they've never heard before (all too easy to do if you're a Truther or CT in general). I guess I'll just have to read the well-linked reference sites posted here... Woe is me!

haha fair enough. I've always wanted to contact Karl Mamer and ask him to do an episode on 911 anyways. I know the reasons why he is steering away from it but I agree with you that this is the JFK CT of our generation.

I know it isn't an on going 911 podcast but I would imagine this show only always talking about 911 is what you're probably looking for:

Check out 911vids too.

Nice! That site's pretty good. Full of Truther news and antics.

I will accept this. ;)

"Nathan Moulton, Truth Douche". Classic. Have him stand next to an attractive girl so someone can put him on "Hot Chicks with Douchebags".

ETA: New to the rules, but is this a violation of "#10 You will not swear in your posts. This includes using swear words in a disguised form, for example, by replacing certain letters in the word with another letter, character, or image."? Not sure where the line is.

just point a Text-To-Speech program at 911myths.com. Most "debunkers" these days are simply parroting information from this lone website

The second half of this show is skepchick's takedown of Loose Change. Not 'debunking' per se but an entertaining listen. It's available for download. As the name of the program is "double feature," the first half is about zombies :)

Skeptoid (http://skeptoid.com/) has a few 9/11 related podcasts.

Brian Dunning's work is also an excellent, comprehensive source for all types of paranormal/conspiracy/urban myth related subjects.

Highly recommended.
