Being an Englishman I have only noticed the Pyramid with the eye at the top in the last couple of years. The only info I have read/seen so far says it is the eye of Horus and represents 'The Illuminati'.

Can anyone explain to me what the Eye and Pyramid represents in a non woo way?

Thank you.

I wonder if God (be there such an entity) would really favour the prosperity of the USA?

All rights reserved, I bare no opinion on this matter at this time.

Oh please! We all know this is the sign of our alien overlords. These are the same aliens who built the Egyptian pyramids.

These same aliens are consistently seen in the sky in rural areas where they abduct unsuspecting individuals for the purpose of amateur proctology.

These same aliens have run our country from the beginning (stemming from the Freemason movement), and they are in fact reptilian shapeshifters.

Hmm... did I leave any woo out? ;)

If you think you can possibly include all woo in one post, you are seriously underestimating the breadth and depth of woo.

I consider the question to be very appropriate, but I am wondering why you placed it in "education."

Because I needed Educating!

Because there isn't a forum category for threads where the OP asks a question that could also be answered in 2 minutes on Wikipedia.

Haha, fair point. I could have looked on wikipedia but what would be the fun in that? Far better to ask on here and get varied responses. In the face of boredom, one does mundane things to relieve it :)

So, um, what if it does represent 'The Illuminati'? Would that have any meaning for you?

About as much meaning as reptilians invading us from within. Hence me asking for a non woo description

I do see your point but I just asked here for a fun answer and I had a couple lolz from it. Would it make you feel better if I told you how clever you are?

Well, if you want varied opinions, then you should be over in Conspiracy Theories, but I'll try:

It's a little known fact that George W. Bush's great great great great grandfather had the monocle concession on the Mayflower, and this is the Founding Fathers' way of forewarning us the Prescott Bush was going to suppress the development of the Slinky for several decades, forcing American children to play with matches, which would set fire to the water-starved Dust Bowl and weaken the will of True Patriots so that America would be unable to defeat the Nazis.

It's been proven that it was Samuel Adams who figured out the plot and had the pyramid and eye put onto the dollar as an encrypted message that reads, "Hey, look out for Prescott Bush" or, the alternate decryption, "It's Slinky. It's Slinky. Fun for a Girl or Boy."

What fun would that be? A more interesting tactic would be to rail about the NWO and Illuminati plans to cull the world population by 70% through compulsory - and tainted - vaccinations and how the USA is the great evil empire foretold to bring about the End Of Times.

But, it is Friday and there is drinking to do...

You're all wrong! It's the eye of Montgomery Burns.

Judging from what the real Illuminati stood for, I'd personally find it strangely... reassuring. Like finding out God is real, and he's looking out for me--only it's not some ephemeral deific figure, it's a cabal of wise and powerful people who think like I do and are bringing their nearly limitless power and wealth to bear to create a better world. A modern-day Illuminatus would be one of the handful of people in the world who I could genuinely look up to.

And who could forget this bad boy (http://www.freemasoninformation.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/dollar.JPG)? Not to mention this one... (http://www.globalfire.tv/nj/graphs/usd_13_stdavid1.jpg)

Or what about the 9/11 plot predicted with a $20 bill and a bit of origami (http://www.milaircomms.com/folding20.html)?

...I'm thinking America takes too many hallucinogens.

To expand on madurobob's response our great seal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Seal_of_the_United_States) is a melange of colonial (elements repeated 13 times) and Masonic symbolism. In fact Washington, D.C. is full of Masonic influence. Nothing insideous, just a product of who the Fathers of the country were.

Pretty much, yes--the handful of people who have both wealth and an understanding of their own ethical obligations. And if I was one of them, I'd keep it a secret, too--for some reason, we tend to think very poorly of public figures with consciences. Bono's an attention whore, Carter ruined the economy, and the Rockefellers are plotting to kill us all. I've always suspected that we resent people like them--people who don't just have more than we'll ever have, but are better people than most of us will ever be.
