“The weather fine and clear, the wind and sea moderate. Observed some black spots on the water, and a whitish pillar, about thirty-five feet high, above them At the first glance I took all to be breakers, as the sea was splashing up fountain-like about them, and the pillar, a pinnacle rock bleached with the sun; but the pillar fell with a splash, and a similar one rose. They rose and fell alternately in quick succession, and good glasses showed me it was a monster sea-serpent coiled twice round a large sperm whale.
this picture illustrates what was seen

cryptozoologists have long claimed that this event shows a sperm whale in battle with a giant squid except that giant squid are not known in the south Atlantic where this encounter took place off Cape Roque north east Brazil on January 8th, 1875. But recently I came across some evidence that solves this enigma
and its quite amusing, but not for the faint of heart
A sperm whale penis is nine feet long and when its being social it looks like this

Two whales, but (I think) only one "sea serpent".
Unless whales are known to swing that way?
ETA: Checking the picture again, two serpents. You can see where the closer one joins the rest of the body.

I demand you add "whale penis" to the tags for this thread. We had a forum reputation to uphold!

That's the first penis(es) I've seen in 18 months. I hope I can get the vision out of my head if I'm ever lucky enough to "know" a man again.

After saying that, you may want to check your PM box for offers from lonely male skeptics.

So what do you get when you combine the market for animal penises with the market for whale products?
