View Full Version : Dressing for TAM2
Paul C. Anagnostopoulos

As with TAM1, my wife gave me a special TAM2 T-short for Christmas. It is inscribed with words that only Bill Hoyt knows, and he is not telling. The rest of you will just have to wait.

If there is, this'll be the first time I've heard of it. Heck, last year I was in shorts from when I changed in my room til the day I left(gets to be too cold up here in Minnesota for shorts during the winter months). And that's what I'm planning on doing again this year. If I suffer, I suffer. I know how to crank the heat in my vehicle if need be.

Shorts??? Like we say shorts, white socks and athletic shoes? Are you British? :p

For Minnesotans, temps in the 60'sF and up are considered shorts weather. Especially after 3+ months of below freezing temps.
Given that it was warm during the day while we were in Florida last year, I didn't even pack anything but shorts to wear down there.
This year I'll have about a 40 minute layover in Phoenix and will have time to change into shorts for the flight into Las Vegas.
I'm not British. And shorts as in pants that are knee-length at the longest.

Nope, no dress code. Except if you're me, in which case you need a special T-shirt.

Uh, no. What else does one wear when it's warm and you need shoes? I suppose one could skip the socks.

Cleo, I"m told Vegas is very casual...
but unless you want people to think you are from Iowa, it might be nice to dress up a little in the evenings. Most people at TAM1 wore jeans. But G6 had some really neat fashion things going on...where that girl must shop, I gotta get out there for a visit!
I'm planning on being a little nicer for the workshop, and something nice, but probably pants for Penn and Teller. I wore a lot of black TAM1, but I have a lot of that anyway for when I have to work in NY, or some other artist thingy.
Luciana had some cute flirty skirts, and I dont' remember anyone objecting! Moe has said in Vegas flash and glitter are great. It's anything goes! I hope to be helping out LInda some too, so feel I should look a little nicer than tshirt and jeans while I'm there. Not a suit, like you were going to court, but some nice khakis...
What I would say is that wear what you want. There was a shortage of women, and even if the guys all wear jeans and a tshirt - they don't seem to mind if the women dress up a bit.
shorts, hey is you've got the legs guys!

Hey, hey people! Well, I'm probably going to wear jeans or pants for the conference. It was a little on the cool side for me during the proceedings, so I'm figuring that air conditioning is de rigeur over at LV. I'm susceptible to air conditioning, so I tend to dress warmer than other people.
But, for the P&T show, I plan to dress up! And, for any other dinner engagements, I will dress up as well. The weather will dictate how much leg and flesh I will show. :D

G6 If what you are saying is "the warmer it is, the more leg and flesh you will show", I recommend staying very close to one of those warm-blooded winter types, if you can find one.

Serious now - am I going to be able to wear a cotton dress, or a sleeveless dress while indoors? Or will I just freeze? Despite being a tropical bird, I deal with the cold very well, but to everything there's a limit.
I'm thinking of packing one heavy coat, for when I'm outside. But no pants. I hate pants. I only have one pair, but I really hate them. I'm comfortable in skirts and dresses, I'll add a pantyhose if I'm cold.
I have this dress which changes colors... :D and it's sleeveless! I mean, I'll be in Vegas! I'll need too much makeup and things shining on me! High heels and glossy lips! No way I'll want to be wearing boring pants and my one and only boring heavy coat.
Tell me that indoors the temperature is fine!?!

Hi Luciana :D
I plan to wear mostly casual clothes that advertise the Olympic Games of Athens BUT I plan to bring something black and ....unforgetable for my wedding with Unrepentant Sinner and my wild night with Moe and others in Vegas.Who knows, I might meet a rich American peasant from Nevada who owns 1.000.000 cows and moans instead of talking and I will become the Queen of Nevada

It should be good Luciana. I'd say that it will be typical hotel weather, by that some places too hot and some too cool. Maybe a little sweater? something light and button up.
Me, I've got enough to cover that pants and long sleeves are ok. I think Moe mentioned that the Penn and Teller show was pretty cool inside. I'm hoping for at least 50's or 60's outside. If it's 60's I'll wear shorts (not in Vegas though)...
WARNING! I am old, so I may wear some older type people outifts. My kids won't let me wear what they wear...(though they will steal my shoes).
I'm looking though my NY clothes now...but still have too many flowered things I like to wear.

so I went out to dinner in an outfit I'm bringing to TAM2. Pool Boy and another artist friend said, "You are just so cute..."
PoolBoy just raves how I've always been just too cute.
Cute! Even my gay lawyer says he just loves me cause I'm so nice and cute.
I have to admit, I've done pretty well with the men with cute. But, in my next life...I'm coming back as an African tribal princess that lobs off the heads of men who don't tremble at the sight of her exotic lovliness. Sort of like Cleo!

Brazilian women also don't wear make-up, not with our wonderful skin colors... but I'll be in the US and I heard it's mandatory if you're past 12 :p, plus I'll be in Vegas, and I think it's the right place to fulfill my dreams of becoming drag queen material, like Priscilla, the Queen of the Desert (if that other Queen - which country, I forget?? the one with the lizards if I recall correctly - won't get too envious, of course).
Casual is good, but casual for me is a different story. I have zero jeans in my wardrobe, and T-shirts only when I walk by the beach. Pants, only one pair. It's black and it's leather, but I swear it's boring and I don't intend to wear it. I have only one coat, and it's grey.
The dress that I wore for my Betty Boop costume will remain in Rio. Not even Vegas is ready for that. :fg:

Pajama/makeover party? :p We can get all put on a ton of makeup and blend in the crowd? It should be as much fun as playing "spot the bride" :)
I forgot about the damn Brazilian women great skin. I will be a pale Slavic nightmare next to you....Darn it! Wonder how much tanning I can fit in between then and now....

Well, I am the opposite. Pants, pants, pants. I own almost no skirts. Old tomboy habits die hard :) However, it is good there will be variety ;)
Now, you do own a pair of walking shoes? High heels are great for the hotel, but in Vegas, there is plenty of walking!

1.000.000= one million, in most places.
1,000,000= one million, in the US and UK (?)
While we would write, say, 1,45%, you'd write 1.45%. We use the commas only for decimal places.

I'll be bringing some jeans, casual button down shirts, a turtle neck or two and my tux for my wedding with Cleo. I'll be wearing deck shoes through airport security, but I'm bringing at least one pair of boots.
I doubt I'll be bringing a suit or any casual trousers. I probably should though as wearing jeans during a lap dance can be quite uncomforatble.

I will be bring mostly jeans and decent tops, but I may through in something a little fancier since we are going to see Penn and Teller. I will of course leave the black velvet gown at home, but perhaps the jean and black lace bustier that Nyarlathotep likes so well will come with me.........
Of course, I have great skin and eyes (my best features), so I rarely wear makeup; I will leave that stuff at home (except for my Chapstick).

Because dressing up means wearing something unusual for you. That's more fun than wearing the same neutral, boring, unimaginative clothes everyday.
Some people are willing to pay outrageous sums for a dinner in a fancy restaurant. You can have a meal just as nutritious 10 times cheaper, but if you want something special and out of the ordinary, you pay for it. Some would say that's a totally waste of money and time.
It's more fun than the alternative. :)

Or, I might change my mind and wear the LBD (Little Black Dress) with fishnets and stilettos just to make Paul ask me how I can walk around like that!
