View Full Version : Thinning the Herd....

American Christian missionaries have declared a "war for souls" in Iraq, telling supporters that the formal end of the US-led occupation next June will close an historic "window of opportunity".

Organising in secrecy, and emphasising their humanitarian aid work, Christian groups are pouring into the country, which is 97 per cent Muslim, bearing Arabic Bibles, videos and religious tracts designed to "save" Muslims from their "false" religion.

If a single American Tax Payer dollar goes to defend, give aid to, or even provide a small glass of drinking water for any one of these people....I'll have a fit!

Mrs Cone is confident she made converts in Baghdad. In her hotel she met a Muslim woman on crutches with a leg operation due that day. Mrs Cone knelt on the lobby floor and prayed that surgery would not be required.

"I saw her that evening and she said God had healed her, and she hadn't needed the surgery. She didn't say Allah, she pointed to Heaven and gave God the glory," she said.

Stop the world, I wanna get off!

Didn't you know? This is one of America's Weapons of Mass Delusion. Tax exempt, so your dollars are safe, but devalued.

Ahhhh... We have such a way with words...

I dunno, this seems like another desperate call by the Southern Baptists for more money - "yawn". Seems the Mormons, JW's, and other, er, psuedo-Christian cultists are providing well funded missionary efforts in Iraq*. Must be frustrating for the SBC true believers to go begging. :D

I'm not quite sure what pitch a Mormon missionary could give to a Muslim. Beware false prophets?

The 10/40 window is the main zone of Christian missionary efforts. The fundies always seem to confuse me; first they say that less 'true' Christians is a sign of the Rapture, then they go try to convert everyone. How can you be an oppressed, isolated minority and reach out at the same time?

The way I see it is that if they're wrong about everything, I'm right (yea!), and if they're right they'll all disappear in maybe 2012 (yea again! ) . Unfortunately, I think the Rapture folks will be hanging around for awhile, spreading their word throughout Asia like SARS or something. :( Watch out for the infomericals!

Off hand I just see this is the reverse of the Saudi funded Madrassas in the U.S. churning out Islamic fundies ready to Jihad against Israel. Now talk about your tax dollars...

I heard the royalty in Saudi Arabia is getting old and sick (at least the king), and things could get chaotic there soon. I forsee a theocracy there. On another note, gas prices are expected to rise :)

Look man, unless I misinterpreted your post and I'm half in the bag so that is a distinct possibi...sooppibili...bossiplity.....errrr. ...possibility, two idiotic ideas don't make one smart one.

Just because someone who wishes us harm uses faith in god to act like idiots doesn't excuse our side from doing the same.

And this is where I get conservative!

It's a freaking warzone!!!!

We don't need ne'er do goods waltzing in there with ther john 3:16 to get blown to high hell and start all kinds of craziness to help our effort to restore non-violent stabile factions to the regions. I agree that you can't supress freedom of speech and religion but these people are, at the expense of their own safety, spouting stupidity into the air in a way that inflames hatred, mis-represents the US efforts in that regions and makes the entire situation more dangerous for everyone!

The kind of stuff that makes me belive we are walking towards extinction. Soon we'll get a collective Darwin award.

One of the main complains of muslims is western interference in their culture. Now, what happens when these "soul warriors" enter the scene?

Now for a different view: better that they are "our" religion than "their" religion. As long as there are easily manipulated fools in the world, they might as well be manipulated by America and not its opponents.

It would be better if there were no religion, true, but as long as we're battling over murderous religious ideologies, wouldn't it be better if it was the same ideology as the majority of Americans?

Naw, I'm kinda hoping eventually all the zealotry will cancel out, and left on top will be the rational, clear-minded individuals....

And this article kinda shows that I might be right.

Perhaps! Perhaps the Christians and Muslims will lock down all of the middle east like it has locked down Jerusalem, thinning both herds, and leaving us. Still, a Middle East with the same religion as America is better than differing ideologies, though not as good as NO religion altogether.

edit: I forget, it's mostly jews and muslims in Jerusalem, not Xians. Speaking of which, how about we throw some Hindus in as well?

I have heard that some of these clods have been running around Israel for years trying to convert Jewish people to Christianity as well.

Most of the Jews react thusly ...
