Top UK medium/psychic Craig Hamilton-Parker gave his predictions for the year at the start of 2003. You can see the original predictions here:
http://www.psychics.co.uk/prediction/2003predictions.html
Here is the full list, with my comments in brackets:
1. Posh Spice will be pregnant again within a year. Perhaps not the most important event of 2003 but the one that will make the biggest headlines.
(WRONG - for the uninformed, "Posh Spice" is the wife of UK footballer David Beckham)
2. And while on the subject of children: A celebrity child will be kidnapped. I am not sure who this is but my feeling is that terrorists will undertake this. I feel that kidnapping generally will become the terrorists' tactic of choice through 2003.
(WRONG)
3. The UK economy will falter and house prices will fall. Blair in trouble. (WRONG - UK economy is in good shape as of the end of 2003, but economists predict spending deficit in the forthcoming year) New Labour borrows massively to support spending programme. (Correct, but my personal view is that the chancellor stated that borrowing would have to increase in the 2002 budget speech) Opposition outrage as Labour blames Iraq War for shortfall. (WRONG) Union problems from public sector escalate.(DEBATEABLE - Union strikes have increased but the prediction did not mention strikes) Ian Duncan Smith will be nearly out of office by end of year- hanging on by fingertips. (WRONG! Ian Duncan Smith resigned in September 2003)
4. Another petrol protest from the public as petrol prices soar. (WRONG) Russia demands massive compensation for loss of revenues from US when Sadam's Iraqi regime is replaced. (WRONG)
5. Major backlash against illegal immigrants. (WRONG) A bill for identity cards will be put forward within the year. (WRONG no such bill has been put forward) A UK mosque will burn to the ground in suspected arson attack.(WRONG)
6. The Korean crisis will appear to be solved diplomatically but uncovered secret plot to sell nuclear material to Yemen revealed .(WRONG although Korea did sell some conventional missiles to Yemen) Bush orders air strike to Korean Power stations. (WRONG) Bin Laden shown to have been hiding in Yemen with an eye to ousting the Saudi throne.(WRONG)
7. New spy scandal revealed in a scenario reminiscent of the Christine Keeler affair. (WRONG) Chinese intelligence found to have infiltrated UK secret service.(WRONG)
8. Corruption revealed in NHS. Top ministers sacked.(WRONG)
9. Car crash in America sees well know rock star or celebrity killed. I see dark hair. Probably a female vocalist. Diana Ross?* Whiney Houston?(WRONG)
10. Terrorists target Hawaii and Turkey tourism.(CORRECT in respect of Turkey, WRONG in respect of Hawaii) Passenger liner attack. (WRONG) I feel the Hawaii attack may have something to do with golf.(WRONG)
11. Catherine Zeta Jones will have a baby girl.(CORRECT - baby Cerys born this year)
12. Even more pedophile cases revealed. More celebrity shocks ahead. (CORRECT - although this was telegraphed by UK Police during 2002 as part of the ongoing Operation ORE)
13. Cloning claims by sect proven to be false.(CORRECT)
14. Zimbabwe cricket tour proves to be successful despite the political fallout.(Debateable - "successful" not defined, the tour went ahead but was clouded with controversy)
15. Massive bank robbery attempt on Swiss owned bank.(WRONG)
That makes 28 predictions, of which 21 failed to materialize, of the remainder, 5 were correct (the Zeta-Jones prediction was 50/50 as the pregnancy was announced in 2002, 2 more were arguably already made by official bodies), the other 2 predictions were too broad in scope to evaluate. In essence just 3 of the 28 predictions were unambiguously correct. Having said that there is still 13 minutes left for the remainder of the predictions to materialize.
Ho-hum!
