Jesus Christ dumped from jury pool for disruption (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091202/ap_on_fe_st/us_odd_jesus_jury_duty)

Court officials say a Birmingham woman who changed her name to Jesus Christ didn't live up to it when she reported for jury duty this week. The woman, previously named Dorothy Lola Killingworth, was sent to Judge Clyde Jones's courtroom for a criminal case Monday.

Court officials told The Birmingham News Tuesday that the 59-year-old was excused because she was disruptive and kept asking questions instead of answering them.

Efforts to reach Christ for comment were unsuccessful.

Court administrator Sandra Turner said people there were shocked when the woman insisted her name was Jesus Christ and some potential jurors laughed out loud when her name was called.

But Turner said unlike some Jefferson County residents, Christ didn't try to get out of jury duty and was "perfectly happy to serve."

LOLZ!!!

Aren't jurors drawn from the registered voters roles?

You wouldn't think her name would be on there, what with the separation of religion and state...

In California jurors are pulled from voter registration and driver's license lists.

Well do you believe the bible now? Jesus has returned! I just thought it would be a He instead of a She.
Well I don't have a problem in worshipping a woman (i have been doing that since puberty anyway).

Yes, you would, given that she is a citizen. ;) Having a religion does not disqualify you from being a registered voter.

On the one hand, I would be surprised if she is of that religion.

On the other hand, well, the name change was a stunt, as I read it.

But Turner said unlike some Jefferson County residents, Christ didn't try to get out of jury duty and was "perfectly happy to serve."
Model citizen ... so why didn't she just answer the questions, on wonders?

Would Jesus Christ still be expected to swear on the Bible? "I promise to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help me dad."

He might simply say, as He told Pilate: "I am witness to the truth" and leave it at that. ;)
Matthew 18:37-38] 37 To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice. 38 Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? ... "I find in him no fault at all."
Just find a judge who does Pilates and it'll work! ;)
