Was listening to NPR on way to work today, and they mentioned how the Afghan military cannot match the pay of Taliban.
Made me look up a factoid. The average annual wage in the country is about $300 a year. Since the country has 12 million people, we could hire half the country for measly $1.8 billion a year.
What I've wondered is why doing this would be considered "socialist" or "communist", but a military operation that costs 10x as much is the "capitalist" way of doing things.
