Not sure if this has been discussed before (a search on the messageboards didn't bring anything up), but someone on another messageboard posted this URL, and I figured I'd share it here:
Is the Temple of Horus At EDFU, EGYPT a CPU? (http://www.freedomdomain.com/horus.html)
When I first saw this I was sure it was just a joke, but then I got down to the editorial comment, and it seems like the person who wrote it (or at least published it) is quite serious and has this whole belief about the Earth being a living computer, etc.
Pretty incredible. I figured I'd share it here though to see if anyone is interested in "debunking" this (if it is even worth it)..... as I have a bad feeling the people on this other forum are likely to think "wow, this must be real"

-Elektrix I was struck by the odd appearance of the "helicopter" carvings in the first picture. They look all wrong, almost un-Egyptian. A little Googling turns up the explanation - apparently Ramesses II decided to carve his name on top of his father's (Seti I). Here's some more info: http://www.catchpenny.org/abydos.html

We are all living on a big computer? That would explain that writing I found under the fjords in Norway - it said "Slartibartfast"......

Hehe..... I was really positive it was intended to be a joke too (it reminded me sort of of that "moon hoax" parody site with the photos of pink bunnies running around on the moon)..... but that little editorial comment at the bottom does seem to say they are serious (or at the very least, someone else republished this and took it seriously, even if the original one was meant as a joke)

I shudder to think it isn't a joke... it’s almost as good (bad) as Erich Von Däniken’s “Lunar Landers” or his “How did ancients know what a skeleton looked like if they had no x-rays?” , I think they may have been watching too much Stargate :D
Perhaps the authors of the website should visit this site – it totally convinces me that the “ancients” helped mankind build these very primitive structures!
http://www.chariotsofthegods.com/ancients.html
Ancient astronauts, flying gods, angels - at the dawn of time they were known as "those who from the sky to earth came". They brought their highly advanced technology with them, building great cities and space stations that circled above. Then a division formed among them and the wars began. One group was intent on destroying the creation called "mankind" but others were intent on saving it. Eventually a dimensional shift was created and they disappeared to battle behind the scenes until the day they would again reappear in the world.
Although this history permeates every culture, every mythic tradition and sacred text, the "reality" of their presence has been erased from our memories by a long and painstaking brainwashing campaign. The remains of their cities have been buried, their technologies concealed. But a new kind of believer has come. He will uncover the evidence to turn myth into reality and legend into truth. He will unlock the door to a new realm and begin the ancient struggle again, one that will see mankind on its final journey home.
And if anyone wants some good links to start reading about the incredible things people claim they believe try here http://www.usd.edu/anth/cultarch/astro.html .

The amazing thing is that the aliens who influenced the ancients evidently achieved interstellar travel with computer hardware that bears an astonishing resemblance to the innards of the PC's we have now! Or at least, circa 1998.
I wonder if they ran Windows.

And I can tell you, as breathtaking as Edfu is, it's no CPU.
By the way, I just posted a bio on this Richard C. Hoagland (http://www.whoslying.org/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=215&Itemid=31) guy, and he's pretty much a charlatan.

As soon as I saw the name Hoagland I knew it wasn't a joke (at least not intentionally) and knew it would contain totally baseless claims...
Maybe this computer was used to design the face on Mars?
:wink8:
