I thought it might be a good idea to create Avatar Name Badges for those of us that are members of the JREF forums and attending TAM2. This might help to better identify each other at the TAM2 as well as just being a fun thing to wear. I have already created a couple for myself on Avery White Adhesive Name Badge Paper and I think they look pretty good. I am offering to make badges for anyone that might be interested. I would just ask that you give me a buck for every badge you request to help pay for my time & materials.
Each badge will include:
1. Your Forum User Name
2. Your Avatar (I can use the graphic from the forum, but for best quality printing results you can e-mail me (dimossi@hotmail.com) a higher resolution version of your Avatar.)
3. "JREF Forum Member" graphic
4. Your profile signature, favorite quote, or whatever extra text you want to put at the bottom. (This is optional and there is a limit of about 157 characters.)
So if you are interested, just send me an e-mail, PM, or reply to this post and tell me what, if anything, you want #4 to say.
I will post further info on where to meet up to pick up badges once I find out if there is any interest for this.
Below is an example of what the badges will look like. I am open to any suggestions, additions, or changes anyone might have for the badges; especially if you are requesting some. :D

I remember seeing, on the TAMII Registration form, a field asking about whether you were a forum member & what your name on said forum was. I think some Name Badges are already in the works, though yours seem much more tailored to helping forum members recognize each other.
I'd ask Hal if the JREF is going to provide namebadges, and if so, will our forum names be on them.
I do like your idea, but I'd hate to see you waste your time if it's already been addressed.

Paul C. Anag*.* is already taking care of that, as far as I know. PM him, or your great idea might be wasted.

Dimossi, you must have the most amazing eyesight on the planet!
Last year the badges included name, city, forum ID, and and an indication of staff, volunteer, etc. People complained that the forum ID was too small, which it was.
So this year the badges contain the same information, but rearranged to allow a larger name and larger forum ID. It also contains the TAM2 logo, of course.
The avatar is certainly a great idea, but too much work for the likes of me.
If you would like to create an additional bit of text for your badge, there is some open space in the middle of the badge that measures 3.25 x .75 inches. If it contains more than a few words, no one will be able to read it. Keep it professional, folks! And watch out for chest-staring syndrome.

Thank you for the feeback so far.
I am aware that there will be TAMII badges already, but they will not contain avatars. I was planning on printing up my avatar on some sticker paper for myself anyway, however I came up with the idea of an avatar name badge instead. And since I had already created the template for these avatar badges I thought I could offer to print some out for anyone that wants one. They could then be worn in additon to the default TAMII badge.
Having printed one out already I have tested its readability from a distance. The Forum User Name is large enough to be read from 6-8 feet away and is just small enough to fit some of the largest forum names (e.g. Paul C. Anagnostopoulos). I believe the avatar is recognizable from 6-10 feet as well. The optional text at the bottom is small but can be read at a face-to-face conversaton type distance.
Like I said earlier, I have already created badges for myself and the template is in place, so there isn't any wasted work on my part. So if anyone is interested in having one or more, just let me know and I will print them out for you. If not, then no big deal.

Are we not having the mandatory "dress as your avatar" contest? I did rather well last year, and was hoping to repeat...

Oh dear.... Oh, you think I'm joking? A few people recognized my by my avatar last year. (A few others by the distinctive odour, but that's another story.)
*has to wonder though if Girl6 is the reason for this suggestion :p* Our postings were simultaneous and completely coincidental.

OK, you got it.
How many? Do you want anything under the avatar? (Like your sig: "Where is the man who has the power and skill to stem the torrent of a woman's will?")

I have no avatar. Does this mean I will be invisible?
To avoid the necessity for people to randomly throw buckets of water in order to outline me with wetness, I may have to wrap myself completely in bandages.

Just one is fine. And, including my sig is great!
Shall I pay you now or when the conference starts?
thanks!
