OK, the thread title is misleading. Here's the story:

Man steals credit card from church, uses it to buy books at a Christian book store.
The books? Ten copies of "Making Peace With Your Past" and "Moving Beyond Your Past"

So the purpose of his criminal activity was the purchasing of books to help reform the criminal activity of illegaly aquiring the books?

Yes, but stopping in the same exact place you started immediately BEFORE you start...? I guess, sometimes, the path of life is a mobeius strip.
I wonder if the church got enough cash for the sold books to replace the... uh... books? Wait...

I don't think the bookstore was affiliated with the church where the credit card was stolen.
The credit card belonged to a church member, not to the church itself.
A suspect is in custody, the books, receipts, and change were found in his car.

So when a theist does something wrong it is because of their theism...but when an atheist does something wrong it isn't because of their atheism?

There you go again...
No one said ... " ...when a theist does something wrong it is because of their theism... "
Is this what you believe?
How about .. " In spite of it ".. ??
Which is an observation of why anyone does anything, that is apparently contrary to the tenants of a given belief system..
In case you missed it, this thread is about an ironic series of events; and no, it has nothing to do with the
virtues of 'permanant press' fabrics...

Who did this business with the credit card is in the Minor League!
Just remember a few of the Major League examples:
Jim Bakker,
Jimmy Swaggert,
Oral Roberts,
Pat Robertson,
Jerry Fallwell,
and several Catholic Preists (who are sworn to poverty, chasity, and obiedence)!

Different orders take different vows. I recall one Caddy-driving priest who insisted he had not taken a vow of poverty. I don't know which order he belonged to.
