View Full Version : How do people classify Hypnosis?

As i understand hypnosis, there is 2 general "applications", being the kind of silly stuff you make a person do while "hypnotized", and then there's Post Hypnotic Suggestion, the idea that you can give a person a keyword or trigger, and it will revert them to the hypnotized state later, and maybe have them do things they wouldn't normally do (bark every time the doorbell rings)

Unless I'm mistaken, one is still under debate, and the other has been thoroughly debunked. However I'm hoping I'm wrong, and looking for information to that effect.

Anyone know? Is this just stage trickery, or are there actual hypnotists out there that can actually put a person into a state of mental calm, and then monkey around inside their heads?
